Our Civil Infrastructure Team in Asset Management & Maintenance is seeking a manager to lead one of its structural SOGR Delivery Teams. Reporting to the Senior Manager this Manager will be accountable for leading a Team of Project Managers and delivering a bundle of stateofgoodrepair (SOGR) capital projects consisting of mainly of repair rehabilitation and reconstruction of existing rail carrying bridges and structures. The following describes the ideal candidate for this people leader role:
- Leadership Acumen through their past behaviour demonstrates the potential to be an effective people leader
- Capital Delivery possesses a track record of successfully delivering public infrastructure projects in a highly constrained environment
- Engineering Expertise completed education in and/or has experience in the practice of civil/structural/bridge engineering
- Railway Knowledge in addition to the typical suite of construction health and safety regulations understands the specific rules and restrictions related to working within a railway corridor is an asset
What will I be doing
- Accountable for the delivery of a bundle of State of Good Repair (SOGR) projects with a focus on the delivery of repairs rehabilitation and reconstruction of railway bridges and structures by providing day to day leadership to a Team of project management professionals.
- Collaborating consulting and coordinating with Subject Matter Experts on the Civil Structures Asset Management and Engineering Teams on the delivery of Civil Structures SOGR projects.
- Complying with Rail Corridor Access and Safety restrictions/policies to facilitate safe delivery of SOGR works within the corridor.
- Identifying and risks (current or potential) to successful programs/project completion and creating plans to mitigate or avoid barriers/issues; managing unforeseen issues taking measured corrective actions to meet budget and schedule requirements.
- Complying withprevailingregulatory policiesbestpracticesandemergingtrends.
- Monitoring and reporting on the status of the project bundle seeking support through escalation as needed.
- Mentoring project manager and maturing the project management practices and procedures with a focus on progress not perfection.
- Leading and supporting a team of project management professionals valuing their skills and recognizing their contributions.
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need
- Completion of a degree inEngineering applied scienceor a combination of education training and experience deemed equivalent.
- Demonstrated progressive experience managing infrastructure maintenance expansion and rehabilitation programs/projects including leading a team.
- Valid Professional Engineering . licence recognized by the Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO) is an asset.
- Exposure to the railway environment and experience with Bridges & Structures is a requirement.
- Proficient in change and risk management and assessment of projects to support the team and manage costs schedules and reputational risks and address issues.
- Demonstrated behaviour and soft skills consistent with a potential people leadership.
- Certification in Metrolinx Rail Operating Rules isanasset.
- Knowledge of Employment Standards Act Occupational Health & Safety Act to monitor and manage employees and contractors executing SOGR projects.
- Project management principles and practices including budget and schedule controls to lead and direct cross functional teams and consultants.
- A valid G drivers license is required to travel to various site locations meetings etc. (approximately 15. Must meet and maintain the corporate standard for good driving record
- Ability to obtain Metrolinx Personal Track Safety (PTS) qualification and other role related certificates.
