Description

The Continuous Improvement Specialist III is responsible for scoping leading and implementing continuous improvement projects to improve productivity reduce waste and deliver cost position will support the business in achieving target performance working across Operations Engineering Supply Chain Planning and Program Management. This may include facilitating process changes and development performing assessments and root cause analysis lessons learned capture and the application of lean manufacturing and design for production

Note: This position qualifies for an optional hybrid work schedule after 90 days of onsite work and onboarding. Employees will be subject to the terms of the Flexible Work Policy Agreement.

What youll do

  • Leads and delivers improvement projects as assigned including collaboration with relevant stakeholders communication of progress and results monitoring effectiveness and ensuring sustainability.
  • Performs assessments root cause analysis strategic business analysis and project planning to prioritize and initiate improvement projects both internally and in support of other departments.
  • Supports the delivery of initiatives led by other departments in particular high priority projects requiring crossdepartmental support.
  • Shares and promotes performance improvement best practice with other employees and managers to develop skillsets and facilitate a continuous improvement culture.
  • Supports the development implementation and sustainment of the shipyards improvement processes and systems.
  • Research evaluate and implement current industry best practice methods procedures and technology as relevant to assigned projects.
  • Mentors others in the use of process improvement tools and techniques
  • Writes executive summaries trending cost savings cost avoidance and capacity increase initiatives.
  • Coordinates and owns the implementation of performance improvement activities integrating CPI disciplines and principles within departments through close collaboration with all employees.
  • Collects and analyzes data for determining path forward improvement strategy.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What youll bring

  • Degree in Engineering or equivalent technical background and/or experience
  • 5 or more years postsecondary experience working in an Engineering related position with a strong interest in manufacturing
  • Prior experience in shipbuilding/heavy manufacturing is desirable.
  • Lean Six Sigma Certification with proven performance improvement history
  • Predictive analytics skills using statistical software and data mining
  • Excellent interpersonal leadership and facilitation skills.
  • High degree of tenacity selfmotivation and innovation.
  • Ability to work independently to develop solutions to complex technical problems.
  • Excellent analytical skills to gather and analyze/synthesize data confirming its accuracy and adequacy.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills including the ability to produce and present clear technical specifications presentations procedures and reports.
  • Knowledge of process improvement techniques.
  • Good understanding of organizational change management.
  • Good understanding of project management techniques.
  • Knowledge of shipbuilding and heavy manufacturing processes.
  • Good organizational skills include the ability to maintain organization in a changing environment multitask and establish priorities.
  • Advanced knowledge of basic Microsoft Office 2010 software suite (Excel Outlook Word PowerPoint).
  • Knowledge of group technology lean manufacturing and process analysis tools and methodologies.
  • Working knowledge of Computer Aided Design software document control systems and databases.

The estimated salary for this position is $99000 $121000. In determining final salary Seaspan considers many factors including the successful Candidates skillset and experience as well as position location and internal equity. The final base salary offer will be at the Companys sole discretion and presented as part of a competitive total compensation package.
