ROLE Senior Mechanical Design Engineer
LOCATION Hampshire
TERM Permanent
SALARYdependent on experience
My client is a specialist manufacturer working across various industries. They are looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team in Hampshire on a permanent basis.
The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:
- HNC / HND / BTEC / NVQ / Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or similar
- At least 35 years experience in a similar Design Engineering / CAD position
- Previous experience in a similar role in a manufacturing environment
- Ideally experienced working with machinery conveyors mechatronics and other equipment with moving parts and systems
- Be proficient using 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks Creo Inventor etc.
- Good theoretical mechanical engineering knowledge of core principles and tight tolerances
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Excellent organisational skills and time management skills
- Have the ability to work independently as well as part of a small multidisciplinary team
The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer role will involve:
- Using SolidWorks on a daily basis for concept design and producing technical drawings
- Presenting your designs and justifying decisions for internal and customer reviews
- Liaising with manufacturing providers
- Being involved in final assembly of products
- Creating the required documentation for design as well as project reports / plans
- Updating 3D models and drawings
- Inputting parts into the MRP system creating BOMs
- Checking drawings for sign off
- Working independently and in a small multidisciplinary team on varied projects
