Job Description

Assembly Mechanic Electrical

Company:

Boeing Defense Space and Security (BDS) has an exciting opportunity for Assembly Mechanics Electrical to support a variety of programs in Berkeley MO!

The primary responsibility of this role is to assemble install and test electrical components and systems according to engineering specifications and industry standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical assembly excellent problemsolving skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Position Responsibilities:

Individual job duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings schematics and technical specifications to understand assembly requirements.
  • Assemble electrical components and systems including wiring harnesses control panels circuit boards and other electrical devices using hand tools power tools and soldering equipment.
  • Install electrical components into production aircraft ensuring proper alignment and connection.
  • Perform bench and assembly line operational check out troubleshooting repair and adjustment of electrical and electronic systems lighting circuits power plant systems wing fold circuits missile launch racks aircraft instrumentation provide flight test instrumentation fire wiring system fuel system.
  • Assemble install check out physical characteristics and modify wire bundles to aircraft of aircraft mock ups.
  • Bench assemble electrical or electronic components and conductors into electrical units and systems before methods and procedures have been established.
  • Cut identify strip tin solder attach components and pot to prepare wire for assembly.
  • Tie seal and pack assembled bundles and units.
  • Install wire bundles or other electrical and electronic components in aircraft power plants or ground support equipment.
  • Test assembled electrical systems to ensure functionality safety and compliance with quality standards.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical issues and make necessary repairs or adjustments as needed.
  • Collaborate with engineers and other team members to identify and implement improvements in assembly processes and techniques.
  • Maintain accurate records of assembly activities including component inventory work orders and test results.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work area.

The following Physical Demands may be requirements of this job:

Limited 01 Hrs) Crawling Lying Down (back front side) Forceful grasping Occasional 13 Hrs) Requires lifting pushing pulling and supporting up to 35lbs Bending at the waist kneeling crouching squatting reaching. The position may have frequent 36 hrs) exposure to Noise. Exposure to noise hazardous chemicals moving parts and occasional exposure to high/exposed places. Frequent lifting pushing pulling up to 35 lbs. Frequent standing reaching handling and turning. Working on elevated and/or uneven surfaces. This position requires eye hearing and other personal protective equipment frequent (up to 8 hours) of standing occasional 13 Hrs) climbing balancing stooping kneeling crouching squatting and working on ladders. Use of personal protective equipment for face/eyes and ears may be required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Experience in electrical assembly installation

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Aircraft assembly experience
  • Experience with any of the following: avionics systems troubleshooting wire bundle installations and aircraft electrical systems troubleshooting
  • Experience in interpreting electrical engineering drawings schematics and definition
  • Experience troubleshooting electrical systems

Additional Information:

  • The selected candidate must be able to work any shift as assigned.
  • This is an hourly position governed by the IAM Collective Bargaining agreement.
  • New Hires as well as employees who transfer from nonunion positions may be required to attend some type of training upon their start. All new employees rehires without seniority or transfers from outside of IAM 837 jurisdiction shall be regarded as probationary during their first one hundred twenty 120 calendar days of employment. Continued employment is contingent upon successful completion of the probationary period.
