Job Description

The Educational Program Leader (EPL) is in a leadership role in the CRC program. The EPL does not have a regular assigned cottage but rather supports campus tone safety milieu schedule and programming and the resident and staff needs. He/she is to act as a liaison between cottages ensuring that communication is effective efficient clear and timely during each shift supervised. EPL is required to be skilled at building resident relationships deescalating residents modeling playful engagement and communicating with others in a manner that shows emotional intelligence.


The EPL is an essential member of the Envision Academy team. This position will work directly alongside the Envision Academy Administrator to assist in the special education process and operational duties to help the school run smoothly efficiently and effectively as well as provide quality and impactful interventions and transition services to students both inside and outside of the resource room setting.

Jobspecific essential functions include the following:

  • TEAM FIRST: Makes every effort to maintain a team first spirit and atmosphere within the workplace environment maintaining appropriate working relationships and promoting collaboration.

Envision Academy Responsibilities:

  • Provides support to the Envision Academy Administrator in designated academic and operational tasks.
  • Works with special education students oneonone and in small group settings to complete special education services objectiverelated trials and transition services.
  • Assists with maintaining special education due dates and drafting documents for IEP ETR Behavior Observations Related Services progress reports and other special educationrelated meetings. (Outlook calendar knowledge).
  • Substitute teaching/teacher coverage when needed.
  • Assists the Envision Academy Administrator in special education and diagnostic data tracking.
  • Assists with services for transition goals and activities for special education students 14 years of age and older as well as collaborating with CRC CCMs regarding life skills and daily living skills opportunities (Goodwill Cares Dining Hall Caring Closet etc.
  • Maintains special education data and document organization.
  • Completes quarterly progress reports.

Residential Program Responsibilities:

  • Utilizes Safe Crisis Management (SCM) deescalation and restraint techniques according to agency policy/procedures when needed including safely restraining a child of any size.
  • Be responsible for meeting many basic physical and emotional needs of the residents including providing supervision limit setting participating in weekly team meetings social training meal preparation medical attention hygiene training clothing needs creating a safe and orderly environment and facilitating recreation. Transport residents to scheduled appointments as needed.
  • Completes incident reports logs and other various forms according to licensing expectations. Provides safe vehicle operation and reports any vehicle needs when appropriate turn in maintenance requests as needed or as directed by shift supervisor.
  • Maintains child and campus safety by providing support and supervision of residents at all times including but not limited to school hours recreational time and searching/chasing a runaway child.
  • In conjunction with the Shift Supervisors and the Clinical Team the EPL is responsible for the tone and operation of campus. This includes adhering to the clinical and milieu programming and curriculum maintaining a traumainformed and traumasensitive environment and being a Christian leader for the CRC campus and setting the spiritual tone for the kids and staff.
  • Assists CRC staff with program transitions and campus movement of residents as well as facilitating program activities and campus events as assigned.
  • Facilitates Fun Fridays which includes planning budgeting and providing transport for incentive outings and activities during summer months.
  • Assists with cottage and campus coverage during meeting times as assigned during summer months.
  • Provides one on one resident care as assigned.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality of all records in compliance with HIPAA. Communicates effectively with the team/other staff both verbally and in writing regarding treatment progress planning decisions problems etc. Fills out all appropriate logs reports and forms. Attends meetings as needed and shares observations about resident issues.
  • Attends all required trainings for the position and maintain any credentials needed.
  • Works the scheduled hours provided by Supervisor including 5 eighthour shifts on 1st shift. Hours for this position are subject to change based on coverage and program needs during summer months. School hours will be MondayFriday 7:30AM3:30PM; hours are subject to change based on job requirements.
  • Attends group supervision and individual supervision once a month with Supervisor and as needed with Envision Academy Administrator.

Other duties may be assigned.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: While the EPL position does not have any direct reports he/she will provide leadership and supervision of the campus while on duty to include routine and treatment programming. Will work in conjunction with CRC and Envision leadership to ensure overall safety accountability structure and tone of the campus. The EPL will also participate in leadershiprelated development within the education team and be empowered and trained to lead small group and oneonone intervention and instruction with students.


REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Ability to read speak and understand the English language and comprehend simple instructions short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in oneonone and small group situations. Must be able to communicate well with colleagues verbally and in writing to ensure safety and efficiency.
  • Knowledge of math to support at the high school level preferred.
  • Ability to add subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers common fractions and decimals. Strong skills in dates calendaruse and understanding of spans of time.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas scientific equations graphs etc. in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
  • Competency with a personal computer and familiarity with Outlook Teams Word Excel and CCHO clinical software. and Excel. Training in special education specific platforms as well as educational instruction and intervention platforms will occur then independent use with support is expected.
  • Ability to function well in a fastpaced environment as well as cope and tolerate high levels of stress.

EDUCATION EXPERIENCE CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES:

  • Bachelors degree required or on track to obtain related bachelors degree. Related Bachelors degree and/or paraprofessional certification preferred.
  • Experience with residential treatment and deescalation preferred.
  • Experience working with children from hard places strongly preferred especially in classroom setting.
  • Active Ohio Drivers License required (transport of clients) and driving record insurable on agency policy.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Frequently required to walk sit talk and hear including a requirement to stand or walk for extended periods of time sometimes through uneven terrain.
  • Often required to use hands/fingers handle or feel; reach with hands and arms climb or balance and stoop kneel crouch or crawl. Specific vision abilities required include close vision distance vision depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Regularly able to lift/move up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to be outdoors in various weather conditions for extended amounts of time.

  • Must be able to drive a vehicle legally and safely in the state of Ohio.
  • Must maintain compliance/certification with CCHOs requirements for using physical restraints (SCM: Safe Crisis Management) including sufficient strength and completion of extensive training. Physical ability to respond to crisis including but not limited to running and performing physical restraints.
