CAPS Extern

Wesleyan CAPS Extern Trainees will provide individual psychotherapy to collegeaged students presenting with a full range of psychiatric difficulties.

The trainees will gain experience providing both longterm and timelimited therapy with this population. Additionally they will regularly conduct clinical intake sessions which include comprehensive risk assessments. While individual therapy comprises the majority of the trainees clinical hours they also have the opportunity to colead clinical groups with the professional clinical staff. Group offerings change from semester to semester and year to year according to staff interest and availability. Trainees will also have the opportunity to participate in various outreach and education efforts presented by the office. Finally CAPS offers a limited cognitive assessment program in which predoctoral trainees have the opportunity to conduct cognitive assessments with Wesleyan students suspected of having a learning disability.

This is an oncampus position.

Minimum Qualifications:
Masters level trainees.

Preferred Qualifications:
Doctoral students who will be in their 3rd through 5th years of training at the time of their placement.
