Job Description
Services:
- Alternative Level of Care unit 12 beds)
- cardiac respiratory services
- diagnostic imaging (Xray)
- emergency medicine
- family medicine
- maternal and child services
- medical unit (six beds)
- mental health and addiction services day program
- midwife clinic
- occupational therapy
- palliative care consultation service
- physiotherapy
- restorative care unit 12 beds)
Responsibilities
- duties include full scope of practice as a family physician providing care to patients within the eastern zone and participating in call
- the physician will be responsible to the zone department head of family practice for their professional responsibilities and quality of practice. They will operate within the Medical Staff Bylaws of the Nova Scotia Health Authority.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Examine patients and take their histories order diagnostic tests and laboratory procedures;
- Advise patients on health care health promotion and disease prevention
- Consultation and referral to other medical practitioners
- Act as a patients advocate
- Prescribe and administer medications and treatments inoculations and vaccinations
- Report births deaths contagious and other diseases as per Nova Scotia Public Health requirements
Expected Hours
- fulltime
- parttime
- weekon/week off scheduling with family practice inpatient and emergency room coverage expected
- oncall for each weekon
Qualifications :
- All applicants must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS)
- All family physicians must be eligible for certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC)
- Membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)
