Location Profile:
Located in South Gate California Shultz Steel is a stateoftheart forging company specializing in large complex open and closed die forgings for the aerospace industry. We are a supplier of forged products to customers worldwide with quality accreditations for all the major airframe manufacturers. As a vertically integrated company Shultz processes include everything from vacuum arc remelting of low alloy steels to target machining of impression die forged product. Shultz manufactures structural forgings for both civil and military airframes as well as seamless rolled rings for jet engine industrial and space applications. Position Summary:
Inspects hot forged steel bars billets ingots and parts to ensure conformance to specifications by performing the following duties.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Include the following. Other duties may be assigned. In performing functions duties or tasks employees are required to know and follow safe work practices and to be aware of Company policies and procedures related to job safety including safety rules and regulations. All functions duties or tasks are to be carried out in an honest ethical and professional manner and to be performed in conformance with applicable Company policies and procedures. In the event of uncertainty or lack of knowledge of Company policies and procedures employees are required to request clarification or explanations from superiors or authorized company representatives.
- Checks with forge department production schedule and travelers to determine which forging operation requires hot inspection.
- Reviews forge drawings of the jobs requiring hot inspection to determine required dimensions and mismatch allowance. Makes notes of the information.
- Inspects parts and checks required dimensions and mismatches against blueprint requirements using measuring devices tape steel rule calipers and micrometers.
- Notifies the forge leadman and/or blacksmith of any problems. Also notifies supervisor of discrepancies in dimension and surface condition.
- Completes Daily Production Reports to report time against jobs.
- Works with forge crews to insure meeting dimensional requirements.

Experience & Education
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical pars fumes or airborne particles and vibration. The employee is frequently exposed to extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
