Wilkes University invites applicants for a oneyear Visiting Assistant Professor of Theatre position in Scenic and Lighting Design. This position in the Division of Performing Arts will begin the fall of 2025. The Division of Performing Arts offers a BFA in Musical Theatre a BA in Theatre Arts and a BFA in Theatre Design and Technology as well as minors in Theatre Music and Dance.
The successful candidate will be responsible for: creating scenic and lighting designs for the four annual mainstage theatre productions; creating lighting designs for one dance performance per year; teaching 3 courses per year in scenic design lighting design and other areas within the candidates expertise; growing the Design and Technology BFA including mentoring and recruiting students; overseeing assistants in scenic painting and props for the theatre productions; managing and participating in production processes like strikes technical rehearsals and production work. This position collaborates with and is assisted by a fulltime technical director and an assistant technical director.
Successful candidates will have an MFA with design experience in both professional and university settings and experience teaching design at the university level. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
