Job Description
Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer
Location: Milton Keynes (onsite 5 days per week)
Employment Type: Fulltime Permanent

Join ALTEN a leading engineering consultancy partnering with some of the UKs most advanced engineering programmes. We are supporting a cuttingedge project requiring the design and development of mechanical enclosures for highperformance electronic systems. As a Mechanical Design Engineer youll be working onsite with a forwardthinking engineering team contributing from initial concept through to validation. This is an opportunity to get handson with fulllifecycle design in a highly technical qualityfocused environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the mechanical design and development of enclosures for complex electronic products.
- Support the full NPI lifecycle: from initial specifications through to prototyping verification and validation.
- Produce and maintain detailed engineering documentation drawings and BOMs.
- Apply your knowledge of materials tolerancing and manufacturing processes to create robust fitforpurpose designs.
- Work closely with crossfunctional teams to ensure seamless integration with electrical and systems engineering.
Qualifications :
Essential Skills & Experience
- A Bachelors degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
- Proven experience in mechanical design within an NPI environment.
- Strong proficiency in SOLIDWORKS (or similar 3D CAD tools).
- Solid understanding of mechanical engineering principles materials selection and manufacturing techniques (e.g. CNC injection moulding sheet metal).
- Ability to generate clear concise technical documentation and engineering reports.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work in a dynamic multidisciplinary team.
