Job Responsibilities: Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students Plan and implement lessons based on the curriculum that meets the individual needs interests and abilities of students Utilize specific instructional strategies and practices that allow for the differentiation of instruction to meet the needs interests and abilities of various learners Use instructional technology appropriately and work with students to facilitate their use of instructional technology Use reasoning ability to evaluate assessment data and determine/recommend an appropriate course of action Communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form Effectively present information and respond to questions from groups including staff parents and the general public Complete academic evaluations with students in accordance with state and federal regulations Collect data to inform progress instruction modifications and accommodations to be considered on Individual Education Plans IEP in accordance with local state and federal guidelines Serve as liaison/case manager of students on assigned caseload to include but not limited to: communicating with parents colleagues paraprofessionals administration and Team Chairs the students academic and overall IEP progress on the same Use contemporary professional literature evidencebased research and continuing education content to make practice decision Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students parents staff and the community Work independently prioritize tasks and manage several projects simultaneously Perform duties with awareness of all district requirements state and federal laws and Grafton Public Schools policies Work with students of diverse backgrounds with diverse needs in an equitable and inclusive manner Maintain appropriate confidential records React professionally and objectively to unpredictable situations (e.g. environmental changes behavior/aggression seizure activity etc. Plan coordinate conduct and participate in ongoing professional and staff development. Work collaboratively with colleagues students and families Explain and implement special education laws and regulations as well as academic and cognitive assessments Other duties not specifically listed but required by building or district administration to enable the smooth operation of the school and the district special education program.
