The Grounds Maintenance Technician plays an essential role in maintaining the safety usability and ecological health of the Prospect Lake site. This fulltime term role (May through September) supports the Facilities and Assets team by managing land care duties and outdoor infrastructure. The Technician ensures the site remains safe accessible and inviting for employees volunteers community partners and program participants laying the foundation for powerful outdoor experiences aligned with our mission.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Grounds Maintenance
- Operate and maintain landscape equipment including mowers tractors trimmers and power tools.
- Maintain site pathways roadways and outdoor program areas.
- Identify and remove natural hazards to uphold safety standards.
- Support grassland management and general landscaping duties.
- Remove invasive species and support ecological land care initiatives.
- Work collaboratively with the Facilities and Assets Lead to host and facilitate volunteer work groups.
Operations
- Support sitewide maintenance in coordination with the Operations team.
- Assist the Facilities & Assets Lead with general facility upkeep.
- Maintain records such as land maintenance logs and incident reports.
- Facilitate purchasing and materials sourcing as directed.
- Adhere to fiscal controls and maintain expenses within approved budgets.
- Champion and follow Power To Bes Participant Protection Policies and risk management practices.
- Assist with onboarding and training staff on facilityrelated systems and tools.
- Provide coverage for colleagues during absences as required.
- Participate in at least one Power To Be program per quarter.
- Provide general onsite support during community or fundraising events.
- Act as a site host ensuring a welcoming and safe environment for guests.
- Uphold brand standards when interacting with stakeholders.
Performs other related duties as required.
Working Conditions
This position involves working outdoors in varying weather conditions and includes occasional evenings and weekend responsibilities. The role requires physical fitness and the ability to perform tasks such as:
- Standing sitting or walking for extended periods
- Reaching overhead and below the knees bending twisting and pulling
- Moving through confined elevated or uneven terrain
- Climbing ladders and working on sloped or slippery surfaces
- Lifting up to 50 lbs. with assistance

Requirements
- Criminal Record Check (CRC) and Criminal Record Review Act Check (CRRA) as required by the Ministry of Justice
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs with assistance
- Access to reliable transportation to and from the Prospect Lake work site
- Valid BC Class 5 Drivers License with a clean drivers abstract
- Ability to ensure site meets Occupational Health & Safety and BC Camping Certification standards
- Proof of full vaccination against COVID19
Assets
- Comprehensive knowledge of horticulture or land care practices
- Experience maintaining irrigation systems (e.g. Rain Bird)
- Relevant certifications in:
- Dangerous Tree Assessment
- Landscaping or Building Maintenance
- Possession of a Class 4 BC Drivers License
- Experience in the nonprofit or outdoor recreation sectors
