You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailWe are studying the roles of signaling pathways in adult blood stem cells and are investigating novel therapeutic approaches to target malignant stem cells in leukemia and related blood disorders. We perform basic and translational research using blood and bone marrow samples from patients with blood cancers. This research may involve analyzing genetic mouse models to study the roles of new therapeutic targets in leukemia initiation and maintenance. This position will involve mouse husbandry. It may also involve the processing of blood and bone marrow patient samples. This research may also involve analyzing genetic mouse models to examine the roles of specific kinase enzymes in hematopoiesis and in leukemia initiation and maintenance.
Polymerase chain reaction
Cell culture
Mouse tail clipping and husbandry
Basic flow cytometry
Ordering supplies and equipment
Mouse tissue harvest and preparation of cell suspensions from bone marrow and spleen
Processing of patient peripheral blood and bone marrow samples to isolate mononuclear cell

require occasional guidance
may occasionally be responsible for ordering supplies and equipment for the laboratory
rarely train or guide other technical personnel.
An understanding of simple scientific literature and the research goals and rationale is required
Limited skills in the analysis and interpretation of data may be required
Bachelors in a Related Science required or equivalent skills and experience required.
24.5 years experience required.
Some time spent in a cell or molecular biology laboratory as an undergradute is preferred;
Experience with mice is preferred but not essential.
Experience with sterile technique is preferred.
