Senior Manager VAT - Financial Services

The Opportunity

Our Tax & Legal financial services practice in Belgium is growing fast and our team members are dealing with the most diverse tax and legal matters. We have a large client base and we offer tax services to a significant number of top financial institutions both in Belgium and abroad.

We provide technical tax advice and managed services to financial institutions and end users in the following areas:
Business Tax Services (general tax advisory);
Global Compliance and Reporting;
Customer Tax Operations and Reporting Services (FATCA QI & CRS);
Indirect Tax (VAT Insurance Premium Tax ;
International Tax and Transaction Services (restructurings M&A ;
Transfer Pricing;
Operational Taxes (Withholding Taxes Financial Transaction Tax Tax on Stock Exchange Transactions) including technologyenabled services (net asset tax returns withholding tax reclaim packages breakdown reporting for funds and investors); and
Tax Technology and Transformation services (review and/or (re)design of tax policies processes technology and operating model).

We are currently seeking a (senior) Manager VAT to further expand our team!

Key Responsibilities

Deliver VAT technical advice on complex transactions;
Assist clients in implementing adequate and efficient VAT processes and compliance framework;
Provide assistance with respect to the obtention of tax rulings;
Provide support in relation to tax audits and litigation;
Help in developing and deploying tax technology tools to improve the operational effectiveness of our clients tax function and the efficient delivery of our tax technical services (in particular in the framework of EYs VAT 2.0 campaign);
Assist tax functions to transform themselves to cope with rapid regulatory and legislative changes and pressure to do more with less;
Detect and develop new business opportunities;
Prepare and attend meetings on an international level with keydecision makers to discuss the clients business and tax needs;
Be responsible for maintaining an excellent relationship with your clients;
Act as firstline contact for a variety of topclass financial services clients;
Manage various projects and workflows thoroughly and accurately;
Supervise and manage assignments by consultants and seniors in the group;
Contribute actively to the development of clientoriented crossborder ideas and policies;
Participate in and contribute to attaining team goals;
Have the opportunity to go on assignments abroad and/or accompany senior people on incountry visits to broaden your international network.

Skills and Attributes for Success

Masters degree in law or economics or commercial engineering with relevant experience;
At least 5 years of professional experience with VAT expertise;
Fluency in Dutch and/or French and English;
An additional postgraduate degree in taxation is an asset;
Knowledge of the financial sector is considered an advantage.
