The individual accepting this position must be bilingual and will teach bilingual education atthe elementary level. They must have a background in linguistics have the ability to teach English acquisition skills be willing to help in the implementation of a district ESOL/bilingual plan be willing to work with teachers outside the ESOL/bilingual program and be an advocate for ESOL students. A successful candidate would understand the research and philosophy of Dual Language Instruction be prepared to teach in Spanish for all content areas and share a commitment to equity and engaging and rigorous instruction for all students.
Special Requirements: (Certification training specialty skills or previous experience)
1. Valid Oregon teaching license appropriate to the assignment.
2. Must be fluent reading writing speaking and understanding Spanish.
3. ESOL/Bilingual endorsement required or in the processof getting it. Knowledge of sheltered English skills preferred.
4. Must demonstrate excellent attendance and punctuality.
5. Willing to work as a member of a team working on planning and organization of student instruction.
6. Interest in being involved with the total school community.
7. Personal attributes: Possession of a good sense of humor willingness to work hard demonstrated rapport with students high energy level and possession of sound organizational skills and practices.
This position is 1.0 FTE; 191 days per year.
Start date: 202526 school year
New staff orientation will be held 8/19/20258/20/2025 and will be paid in addition to contract days.
