GE Renewable Grid Integration product line is globally recognised for designing manufacturing and delivering customised High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) solutions for utilities worldwide.

Within this crosscenters and multicultural organisation the Lead Primary Engineer is responsible to design optimised HVDC substation layouts that integrate all the required equipment considering their installation operation and maintenance constraints.

You can intervene either during Intent To Order (tender) and/or Order To Remittance stages (projects). You will report directly to your regionals Team Leader and functionally to the Plant engineering manager.

With over 130 years of pioneering experience GE offers two HVDC technologies Line Commutated Converters (LCC) and Voltage Source Converters (VSC) to support a broad range of applications and deployable in different schemes including overhead line (point to point) backtoback submarine/land cable and offshore.

Every HVDC solution is tailored and designed based on a projectbyproject assessment of the customers individual requirements whether its for connecting offshore wind generation long distance power transmission or energy trading between independent networks.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

• Technical lead for engineering of primary secondary design of substations / HVDC stations.
• Convert project contractual documents into requirements and technical specifications.
• Define and control planning for the project ensuring ontime delivery of your deliverables.
• Review and validate engineering deliverables under your project / tender scope.
• Lead and design optimised substation & buildings layouts integrating all the required equipment considering their installation operation and maintenance constraints.
• Organize and perform projects design / gate reviews related to your function.
• Conversant in managing the Interface with other disciplines / suppliers / crossfunctions.
• Collaborates on project installation commissioning and site activities clarifying potential issues or providing solutions to correct engineering errors.
• Supports the Project Manager in overall project progress project risk and opportunity assessments and implementation of resulting actions.
• Interacts with customers contractors suppliers attends project meetings and presents all technical aspects of project assignments.
• Provide answers to client partners & suppliers technical queries related to your function.
• Lead the design engineers / designer for the assigned project(s).
• Lead and manage change control requests impacting functions deliverables and schedule.
• Provides feasible and costeffective solution for tender.
• Support continuous improvement within function / engineering discipline.

Experience & Qualifications:

• Excellent knowledge on High Voltage substation international standards & guidelines (IEC IEEE CIGRE etc. and related equipment and substation design.
• Extensive Knowledge of primary / secondary design engineering of substations or power plants or HVDC converter stations.
• Exceptional knowledge on contract and project management Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) or Engineering equipment package (EEP) type.
• Proficient with Autodesk CAD tools Revit BIM360 etc.
• Good understanding of onshore civil engineering and offshore platform design and requirements.
• Leadership (management by influence) analytical mind rigorous and commitment.
• Professional English spoken and written.
• Mobility required (onsite visits or client meetings 10 of the time).
