Job Description
Licensed dedicated Upper School Social Studies Teacher needed at IC Imagine Charter School in Asheville.
The teacher is expected to plan implement and evaluate a comprehensive curriculum for a multitude ofSocial Studies courses for grades 912. The schedule includes Civics Personal Finance Mythology and AP Human Geo.
Salary based on IC Imagines Certified/ Licensed TeachersSalary Schedule.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate extensive knowledge of Upper School Social Studies course curriculum to teach a range of high school courses and possible college level courses
- Use resources necessary to plan implement and evaluate an engaging ageappropriate course of study that follows the guidelines of the NC Standards for all courses taught
- Design instruction appropriate for all students that reflects an understanding of relevant content and is based on continuous and appropriate assessment
- Implement SEL Curriculum and lead advisory group
- Collaborate with other teachers support staff and the IC Imagine community to enhance the educational opportunities for all students
- Participate in Standard Based Grading practices
- Prepare students for participation in state assessments
- Prepare and deliver appropriate instruction for intervention and enrichment groups
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners
- Maintain a positive attitude and contribute to the positive school climate
- Frequent oral and written communication with parents and families of students
- Frequent oral and written communication with colleagues and administrators
- Manage inventory and repair of instructional resources and equipment
- Plan and facilitate student field trips to provide enrichment opportunities
- Follow the processes laid out in the faculty handbook respond to emails in a timely manner keep grades updated weekly and correspond regularly with families with pertinent information for courses taught.
- Perform additional duties including but not limited to supervision during noninstructional time attending afterschool events and meetings participating in enrollment activities leading and during the Open Enrollment period.
- Adhere to all legal and ethical requirements of the teaching profession and set an example for others to do the same.
Skills and Abilities:
- Skilled in problem solving and decision making as well as observation listening and coaching
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
- Maintain effective working relationships
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills to manage and control the classroom
- Possess strong time management skills
- Ability to prioritize workload and multitask in a busy environment
- Proficiency with GSuite
Education and Experience:
- Minimum Bachelors Degree
- Valid North Carolina teaching license
- 1year teaching experience preferred
- Completed advanced placement (AP) training preferred
- Masters Degree in History preferred in order to teach dual enrollment courses through ABTech on IC Imagine campus. Additional stipend for ABTech Courses.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of standing kneeling squatting reaching and bending
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at times
