The Senior Installation Technician is responsible for performing a wide variety of installation duties on technology projects for our clients. This position is the key field position for the bulk of the actual work that gets done in our clients buildings. The install tech needs to coordinate with project management field superintendents and others to fully understand their role on specific projects. They interpret our drawingpackages to create the basis of the finished systems. This installation can include displays projectorsloudspeakers microphones equipment racks etc. The Senior Tech will be responsible for our mostcomplex system designs will mentor other technicians and set the example in all aspects of the job.
NOTE this position supports commercial private sector AV integration projects in the Northern VA/ DC/ Maryland region. A company vehicle is provided.
What will you be doing
- Possess all skills from Install Tech and Associate Fabrication Tech job descriptions
- Leads and delegates tasks to install crews subcontractors and union trades. May be required toregularly lead a team on large projects
- Verifies all work complies with Diversifieds and clients QC standards. Oversee field operations insituations without a dedicated onsite superintendent
- Physical installation of a wide variety of technology into a wide variety of locations
- Execute a variety of cabling terminations for wire and connector types including verifying crewterminations to our standards
- Support the preparation of equipment racks for staging of equipment wire lacing includinginstallation of power strips grounding bars jackfields etc.
- Able to read and understand functional design drawings and cable riser diagrams
- Able to performmounting of base build equipment such as monitor mounts ceiling speakers microphones and projectors
- Provide a consistent level of technical performance as well as flexibility in work schedule. Thisposition requires periodic overtime and may require overtime and weekend work for extended periods to meet client deadlines
- Able to complete assignments in accordance with or better than established task durations aswell as estimate task durations to meet assigned deadlines. Provides daily feedback to field site supervisor and/or direct manager
- Able to build and wire custom panels from engineering drawings
- Advanced Fiber optic cable handling installation termination repair and testing.
- Generate cable labels and manage all wire listing activities for cable labels per our standards
- Responsible for tracking and maintaining their toolkit company vehicles and installation materialsinventories. Keep clean orderly and well documented. Maintain an onsite job box when applicable
- Responsible for checking in drop shipped items and maintaining onsite materials needed by thecrew. Working with the PM to assure timely delivery of onsite equipment and materials
- Responsible for tracking and maintaining their personal licenses certifications and qualifications.(Some states have specific requirement in this area)
- Maintain daily record of time worked on specific projects for timesheet entry as well as anemployee/contractor information log to share with management.
Complexity:
This level of technician will be responsible for performing tasks on clients job sites with nosupervision. This position is responsible for the coordination with clients contractors andsubcontractors. This position will be the key and only senior field supervisor in many situations and willbe responsible for delegating work monitoring others work and communicating with key stakeholders onbehalf of the PM. This position requires the highest level of technical and people skills.
Decision Making Authority:
This position is often alone on the job sites and requires making good judgement about decisions thatneed to be made. In general the project manager and a site supervisor are available to answerquestions. This position is independent and will need to make onsite decisions on behalf of the PM. Thisposition requires good diplomacy in working with our clients and other key stakeholders on the job sites.
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that may be met by an employee. Theemployee may be exposed to construction site conditions on a regular basis. Employee will beresponsible for their safety while on job sites and to comply with all safety regulations in place by the of PPE is usually required on job sites. The employee can typically spend at least 50 of their timeon their feet and be required to mobile around the construction site. The employee must have the abilityto occasionally climb ladders use stairs and lift and/or move materials up to 40 pounds in constructionareas. The individual is regularly required to use keyboards test equipment and controls required for SIinstallation projects. Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision distance visionperipheral vision and depth vision. When not on construction sites the employee will experience normaloffice conditions and be required to use office equipment such as computers peripherals etc.
Travel:
Frequent travel by car and occasional airplane trips are required. Employee must possess a valid drivers license in their state of residence. A company vehicle is available for this position. Local travel to job sites (within a 2hour driving distance each way) will make up 7090 usually but remote travel can be up to 30 of the job at times. 10 remote travel is required on a regular basis.

What do we require from you
Education/Certifications:
- High school or GED equal. Associates/Bachelors degree required and/or equivalent experience
- Experienced with LED Video Walls and Builds (Planar Samsung Christies Unilumin Multi Taction) Required
- Five or more years as an installation technician or related industry experience
- Experienced with leading or managing a team or project required.
- AVIXA CTS Certification is preferred AVIXA CTSI Certification is highly desired
- Must have a valid drivers license and adhere to our insurance requirements
- OSHA 30 Certificate required.
Required/Desired Knowledge Experience and Skills:
- Familiarity with a wide range of audio video and networking equipment
- Knowledgeable of low voltage electrical concepts
- Possess advanced carpentry and/or installation skills
- Proficient use and safety with power tools
- Good verbal communication skills and good customer service skills
- Ability to diagnose troubleshoot and resolve technical problems
