Purpose:
To assist Alief ISD schools in the referral coordination and monitoring process for students referred to special education and/or to assist Alief ISD schools in the development of appropriate educational programs for students.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- Licensed by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologist as a Licensed Specialist in School Psychology
- Masters degree or higher from a recognized accredited college or university
Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Knowledge of federal and state special education rules and regulations including special education disability categories and impact educationally
- Knowledge of specially designed instruction & crossbattery evaluation practices
- Knowledge of prevention and intervention strategies in learning
- Ability to coordinate manage and collaborate with staff in accordance with duties
- Effective communication human relations and leadership skills
- Proficient in use of digital tools including Google Suite Microsoft 365 ARD/IEP Software and Learning Platform Management Systems
Experience:
- Successful completion of LSSP internship
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Program Management
- Conduct Full Individual Evaluation assessments for students referred to special education (initiate coordinate collaborate monitor progress on and complete evaluations within appropriate timelines).
- Review all Existing Evaluation Data to make appropriate determinations for the need for additional assessment.
- Review assessment results received from other school districts/outside sources to assure that all requirements/Texas Education Agency criteria are met.
- Adhere to mandatory timelines and compliance for program management.
- Assist with and/or conduct parent conferences for the purpose of reviewing and interpreting assessment results in a timely and appropriate manner to ensure parent meaningful participation in the ARD process.
- Provide teacher/staff consultation related to assessment results and educational planning of students evaluated.
- Participate in Case Review Committees as prescribed.
- Administer and interpret intelligence and achievement measures and conduct full individual evaluations for educational purposes.
- Assist in the preparation of appropriate individual educational plans (IEPs) for students in special education.
- Attend and participate in professional development meetings.
- Update skills as needed and directed.
- Participate in ARD Committee meetings prepare or facilitate REED Meetings or other meetings which involve special education assessment related needs of children.
- Able to complete Functional Behavioral Assessment and Behavior Intervention Plans.
- Know psychosocial development.
Other
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Maintain an appropriate level of technology competence to meet the current and future needs of Alief.
- Implement alternative methods of instruction as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
You may be asked to provide mentorship and/or supervision to interns or practicum students.
Evaluation
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Boards policy on evaluation of Licensed Specialists in School Psychology Personnel.

Posture: Standing prolonged sitting occasional kneeling/squatting bending/stooping pushing pulling and twisting
Motion: Repetitive hand motions; frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching; may also require climbing stairs and reaching over head
Lifting: Moderate lifting and carrying (up to 15 pounds); May require occasional heavy lifting and carrying 1545 pounds)
Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hours; frequent district wide travel; all campuses are temperature controlled with hard surface floors
Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress

Salary Range: Min$63536 Mid$75878 Max$88218 (Based on previous experience)
