About the Teaching Fellow Role: Teaching Fellows will provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to fulfill their potential for academic emotional physical and social growth. They will receive opportunities in the classroom and school in order to become excellent teachers under the guidance of one or more lead teachers and administrative staff. Upon the completion of a successful year Teaching Fellows will have the opportunity to become lead teachers in their second year. Teaching Fellows reports to their Lead Teacher.
Key Differences between Teaching Fellows and Lead Teachers: A Teaching Fellow unlike a Lead Teacher does not have the direct responsibility of managing the learning and culture of the classroom. At the start of the academic year the Teaching Fellow will assume partial responsibility for longterm planning daily planning assessment creation instruction and behavior management. The Lead Teacher will support the Teaching Fellow in providing learning opportunities to develop in these areas gradually releasing control to the Teaching Fellow. By the end of the academic year the Teaching Fellow will manage the majority of the planning instruction and behavior management so that he/ she is ready to assume a Lead Teacher position the following academic year.

Professional Responsibilities

- Read internalize and adhere to the KIPP Colorado Policies and Procedures manual and guidelines
- Provide an active presence strategic supervision and intentional monitoring to ensure student safety and engagement in rigorous learning (regardless of my role and its proximity to students)
- Take ownership for the development of your craft and engage actively in coaching sessions (meet 12 times every 1 or 2 weeks (depending on need and role) with a manager receive coaching implement all provided feedback engage in active practice etc.

- Assist with other duties as assigned (such as but not limited to lunch duty arrival/dismissal duty bathroom duty hallway duty school support duties etc.
Instructional Planning and Delivery
- In collaboration with the Lead Teacher plan a program of study that meets the individual needs interests and abilities of the students
- Create a classroom environment that is physically and culturally conducive to learning and is developmentally appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students
- Prepare lessons that reflect best practices and accommodations for individual differences of students
- Prepare for classes assigned and show written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisor
- Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and in harmony with the goals establish clear objectives for all lessons units and projects to communicate these objectives to the students
- Assess student learning in an ongoing manner while providing frequent student feedback information to parents and written progress reports as directed by Mentor/Lead Teacher
Classroom Culture and Management
- Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior
- Maintain order in the classroom in a fair and just manner
- Assist the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct
Collaboration and Academic Support
- Collaborate with their Lead Teacher to ensure needs of all learners are met
- Meet with the Lead Teacher to plan lessons and discuss upcoming classroom events
- Observe lead teachers and debrief on classroom management and instructional strategies

- Establish and maintain relationships with students and families based on trust and respect

Additional Responsibilities
- Participate in active presence and strategic supervision and monitoring to ensure student safety and engagement in rigorous learning
- Partner with the Assistant Principal of Special Services and Special Education Teachers to ensure proper implementation of 504s BIPs IEPs safety plans accommodations modification and language support for students
- Enforce positive behavior systems and monitor behavior data
- Attend designated school functions outside of school hours (Back to School Night Report Card Conferences Community Events etc.
- Perform necessary support duties including (but not limited to) bus lunch and dismissal dutieschaperone field trips
- Participate in parent meetings conferences and periodic evening events
- Develop strong relationships with the families of students through home visits participation in school events and phone calls home
- Communicate regularly with families about academic progress and behavior
- Be accessible by school cell phone for homework help and student emergencies beyond regular school hours
- Participate in daily duties (i.e. breakfast lunch dismissal) to support school operations
- Maintain accurate records grade books and data tracking systems
- Assist with both student and staff recruitment

- High School Diploma (required) Associates or higher (preferred)
- Student teaching and/ or paraprofessional experience (preferred)
- Fulfill all state and federal guidelines to meet Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) criteria (required)

- Competitive Market Salary: Starting salary for this role begins at $47663. This salary is nonnegotiable and not based on experience
