Graduate AssistantJob Description
The graduate assistant will support faculty by performing teachingrelated duties including but not limited to developing teaching materials tutoring students and administering exams. Additionally the graduate assistant will provide academic support to students in Principles of Accounting (ACCT 2301 during Summer Session I and Principles of Managerial Accounting (ACCT 2302 during Summer Session II.
Responsibilities:
Attend lectures given by the instructor they are assisting
Provide oneonone and group tutoring sessions for students
Develop and implement effective tutoring strategies tailored to individual student needs
Monitor and assess student progress providing feedback and guidance
Collaborate with faculty members to align tutoring sessions with course objectives
Schedule and maintain regular meeting hours with students
Maintain accurate records of tutoring sessions and student progress
Required Education & Experience:
Bachelors degree or higher in Accounting.
Must be enrolled as a fulltime graduate student at Prairie View A&M University. (Minimum of 9 credit hours during the regular fall and spring semesters and 6 semester credit hours for the summer semester).
Must be in good academic standing.
Required Knowledge Skills & Abilities:
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to explain complex concepts clearly and concisely.
Patience empathy and a genuine desire to help students succeed.
Proficiency in using educational technology and online tutoring platforms.
Preferred Knowledge skills & abilities:
Strong foundation in the accounting cycle with a focus on preparing the three major financial statements: the balance sheet income statement and cash flow statement.
Expertise in internal accounting information systems emphasizing planning monitoring and decisionmaking in areas such as manufacturing costs budgeting product pricing and costvolumeprofit (CVP) analysis.
