The Town of Marblehead is a historic coastal community of approximately 20000 residents located just 18 miles north of Boston. Marblehead Public Schools District serves a student population of approximately 2600 students grades PreK12 dispersed throughout 2 elementary schools 1 upper elementary school 1 middle school and 1 high school. The District employs approximately 650 faculty and staff members. Marblehead Public Schools is seeking a motivated and experienced person to fill the role of School Social Worker/Adjustment Counselor at Marblehead High School. Marblehead High School serves students in grades 912 with a total enrollment of approximately 870 students. The school adjustment counselor will join a strong schoolbased student services department that includes teachers paraprofessionals school psychologists school counselors and school social workers who arepassionate about supporting all student needs in order to maximize inclusive opportunities for all students. The successful candidate will be tasked with the following responsibilities;PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:Responsible for participation in prereferral conferences with school personnel in a team context for the appropriate intervention for a for individual and/or group counseling with students requiring social/emotional support as well as providing social/emotional group for cooperating and consulting as a team member with teachers principals and other school personnel for purposes of diagnosing evaluating and recommending social/emotionalbased interventions for for providing crisis intervention and conflict resolution services when requested by school for serving as a referral agent and case manager for the student and parent(s) in developing a network of social services with community for providing outreach and followup for students referred because of attendance for compiling summarizing maintaining and submitting data or other records of students referred for appraisal to appropriate school for safeguarding the students right to privacy against disclosure of information in the students case history or if disclosures of confidences during counseling within the framework of applicable laws and systemwide for being knowledgeable and conforming to state and systemwide regulations and guidelines on student for advocating for equal educational opportunity to all individuals regardless of race color gender religion natural origin sexual orientation gender identity homelessness or QUALIFICATIONS:Training and experience in conflict resolution in providing consultation services including workshops to professionals relative to child development behavior modification adolescent issues of or experience with SBIRTKnowledge of or experience with crisis intervention/management training
