The Texarkana Arkansas School District is seeking applicants for a gifted and talented coordinator.
The Gifted and Talented Coordinator provides leadership and coordination for the development implementation and evaluation of services for gifted and talented students across the district. This position ensures compliance with state and federal regulations promotes best practices and supports educators in identifying and serving gifted students equitably and effectively.
Develop coordinate and monitor the implementation of the districts GT program in accordance with state standards and district goals.
Provide professional development and coaching for teachers and administrators regarding gifted education best practices differentiation and identification.
Assist with the screening identification and placement of students in gifted programs using appropriate assessment tools and criteria.
Maintain documentation and records related to GT programming including compliance with statemandated reporting requirements.
Facilitate curriculum planning and instructional support for GT programs including enrichment and acceleration opportunities.
Collaborate with school administrators counselors and teachers to support individualized education plans for GT students.
Engage and communicate with parents and families about GT programming services and student progress.
Analyze student data and program effectiveness; make recommendations for continuous improvement.
Coordinate or support GT competitions events and extracurricular enrichment activities (e.g. quiz bowls science fairs etc..
Stay current with research and developments in gifted education; disseminate information to staff as appropriate.
Manage GT program budget and resources.
Perform other duties as assigned by district leadership.
Education and Experience:
Bachelors degree in Education (required); Masters degree preferred.
Valid teaching license with GT endorsement or certification (as required by state).
Minimum of five years of successful teaching experience; experience working with gifted learners preferred.
Experience in program development curriculum planning and instructional leadership.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Strong knowledge of gifted education principles including identification differentiation and acceleration.
Ability to design and deliver effective professional development.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Ability to analyze data and make program decisions based on findings.
Proficiency in using technology for instruction and reporting.
