About the role:
Our Peripheral Interventions division creates innovative technologies to diagnose and treat peripheral vascular disease. Were looking for a dynamic motivated Senior R&D Engineer to focus on balloon catheter development. If you have expertise in MedTech device product development and a passion for making a significant impact this is a great opportunity for you to drive the design and development of future generations of lifesaving devices.
This role is based in Maple Grove MN and requires onsite presence at a minimum of 4 days/week.

Your responsibilities will include:
- Fully participate in and successfully contribute to Exploratory Technical Development Project (TDP) and/or Product Development Project (PDP) teams typically including the following activities: product design and development preparation of specifications and other DHF deliverables testing materials and design performance design capability studies research investigations (preclinical studies) and coordination of project activities.
- Collaborate closely and cooperatively with process development design assurance manufacturing regulatory clinical and marketing crossfunctional partners to ensure project success.
- Work independently to plan and schedule your own activities necessary to meet timelines.
- Demonstrate attention to detail and critical thinking through completion of highquality deliverables. Demonstrate crisp and effective verbal and written communication.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements and standards.
- Conduct feasibility studies develop prototypes and perform testing to optimize product designs. Summarize analyze and draw conclusions from test results. Communicate results and insights to technical community and recommend further steps to stakeholders.
- Perform troubleshooting related to design material and/or process.
- Invent/create concepts for new products and submit idea disclosures.
- May design procure and fabricate tooling and fixtures.
- May train and/or provide work direction to technicians.
Required qualifications:
- B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering Biomedical Engineering Materials Science or related field.
- 6 years of engineering experience with a bachelors degree or 4 years with a masters degree.
- 2 years of experience with medical device design and product development.
- Knowledge and design experience with thermoplastics.
- Expertise in providing technical leadership in design and development.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience with balloon catheter and extrusion design and related fabrication technologies.
- Successful completion of a PDP with contributions from project start to launch.
- Demonstrated knowledge of regulations pertaining to the highly regulated medical device industry.
- Demonstrated proficiency in written and verbal communication.
- Previous or current Boston Scientific experience. This is not a requirement and all qualified applicants will be considered.

Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training pertinent education including licensure and certifications among other relevant business or organizational needs. At BSC it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the anticipated salary range listed above.
Compensation for nonexempt (hourly) nonsales roles may also include variable compensation from time to time (e.g. any overtime and shift differential) and annual bonus target (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).
