POSITION TITLE: AVID SECONDARY SITE COORDINATOR/ELECTIVE TEACHER

QUALIFICATIONS: Current AR teaching license

Bachelors degree in education preferred
Minimum of three 3 years of successful teaching experience
Experience in researchbased instructional practices that will effectively and efficiently support learning
Deep knowledge of reading writing literacy and/or mathematics
Uses data to inform instruction

REPORTS TO: Building Principal/Assistant Superintendent for Equity and Pupil Services

JOB GOALS: To work collaboratively with the Principal Site/Leadership Team and Staff in realizing SchoolWide AVID as a means to strengthen core instruction in turn increasing access to and equity for college and career readiness for all students.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Teach/implement AVID Curriculum and other courses as assigned with fidelity.
2. Train facilitate and collaborate with tutors to effectively implement the tutorial process.
3. Support students academic success across all content areas specifically at least one honors or AP course.
4. Document that all AVID essentials are met in order to assure annual certification.
5. Be the AVID liaison to the principal counselor and other staff members as well as with AVID District Director/Administrator.
6. CoLead the building AVID site team in facilitating monthly meetings focusing on instructional elements of AVID.
7. Be an instructional leader sharing techniques and materials through formal or informal professional development to help staff members across disciplines work with all learners.
8. Assist teachers in implementing AVID strategies in their classrooms and as part of their instruction.
9. Facilitate the planning and scheduling of field trips guest speakers and special programs.
10. CoFacilitate campus AVID parent involvement activities.
11. Facilitate AVID data collection as it relates to schoolwide implementation.
12. Recruit and retain AVID learners.
13. Organize and maintain AVID certification materials at the local school for compliance.
14. Attend scheduled meetings with the AVID District Director/Administrator and Team.
15. Attend AVID trainings as directed by the principal or AVID District Director/Administrator.
16. Demonstrate the personal characteristics of commitment and dedication (see Commitment Contract).
17. Demonstrate multicultural competence in working with learners staff and families.
18. Demonstrate understanding of the requisite levels of college and career readiness.
19. Demonstrate organization and followthrough.
20. Demonstrate the philosophy that all students can learn at rigorous levels.
21. Demonstrate the ability to advocate for underachieving underserved learners.
22. Demonstrate the ability to motivate support and counsel learners and stakeholders.
23. Demonstrate the ability to promote academic success for underachieving learners.

24. Demonstrate understanding of how the school system works in order to get what is needed for the program and the learners.
25. Demonstrate the ability to work well with and to train tutors especially in the concept of tutorial groups.
26. Know Board of Education policies Desegregation Plan district and school guidelines and regulations and adhere to same.
27. Other duties as assigned.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Salary Range: Teacher Salary Schedule. (Placement depends upon education and experience.
Length of Contract: 190 days per contract year

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Boards policy on Evaluation of Certified Personnel.
