As Director Market Analysis you will be responsible for market analysis efforts to support strategic decisionmaking and optimize business performance in the power markets that NPI operates. With a strong analytical mindset excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders you will support the business on a global level by working closely with colleagues in the Development Origination and Operations teams.

This role will be based in Toronto.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a strategy for the market analysis team to cover all NPIs core and target markets.
  • Conduct data driven analysis to develop NPIs inhouse view on all commodity and power prices that underpin project business cases for development and operational projects. Work with Risk Management to identify and quantify risks.
  • Consider external vendors views to supplement inhouse analysis or to bridge any gaps where appropriate.
  • Manage external vendor relationships.
  • Stay up to date with market developments and identify market opportunities and risks through insights research and analysis.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership and other internal stakeholders to provide actionable insights that inform strategy and operational decisions.
  • Assist with the preparation and presentation of materials to support business decisions at all levels.
  • Lead the Market analysis team; grow as needed to support NPIs business objectives.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Completed Undergraduate Degree in business economics finance or engineering.
  • Professional Designation such as CPA CFA ERP P. Eng. etc.; A related graduate degree is also desirable.
  • 1015 years of experience assessing modelling and reporting on energy markets including North American and European markets covering both power and gas.
  • Significant experience monitoring market regulatory bodies and assessing impacts of regulatory changes to business models and energy markets.
