The County of Santa Barbara Health department is seeking a passionate and experienced health care professional to join us as a leader on the County Health team.
We currently have one 1 FullTime Clinical Performance Improvement Coordinator vacancy in the Primary Care and Family Health (PCFH) division that may be homebased in Santa Barbara but will be required to travel throughout the County.TheCounty classification title is Public Health Performance Improvement Coordinator.
We are also accepting applications to establish an employment list for future FullTime PartTime Extra Help and *1414 vacancies forPublic Health Performance Improvement Coordinatorin Santa Mariaand Santa Barbara.

Appointment to Fill Vacancy During Leave of Absence. 1414 vacancies may occur as a result of a leave of absence and the duration of the appointment shall be subject to the return of the individual who is on leave. A person who is appointed to a position under Civil Service Rule 1414 may be able to transition into a regular position in the classification without reapplication or retesting depending on the performance of the appointee and the needs of the department.

POSITION:Under general direction of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) the Clinical Performance Improvement Coordinator coordinates quality improvement and provides regulatory oversight to selected public health programs such as primary care and community health; ensures that selected agencies such as hospitals public safety and other medical agencies comply with state regulations as well as established policies and protocols; makes recommendations regarding quality improvement in service and changes to protocols; investigates incidents and complaints and makes recommendations to managers and executives regarding corrective actions; coordinates multiple data collection and database systems to ensure timely and accurate reporting of incidents and noncompliance and performs other related duties as required.

Additional Requirements: Licensing certification or experience related to a particular regulatory function may be required depending on program assignment.
Knowledge of: medical terminology; goals responsibilities and regulatory requirements of medical and/or emergency services programs; health care practices and procedures; quality improvement and performance improvement standards guidelines and practices; laws and regulations related to the provision of medical and/or emergency services; standard medical organization structures; techniques used in research analysis and report preparation; statistical reporting methods; standard office computer applications; standard English grammar and usage.
Ability to: analyze program needs; develop program strategies and recommendations; establish and maintain effective working relationships with various County departments providers and community organizations; communicate effectively both orally and in writing; set priorities and coordinate a variety of program activities; maintain accurate records; gather data analyze the information draw conclusions and make recommendations; maintain objectivity and confidentiality during investigations; work independently; make presentations in front of groups; understand and interpret various state and local regulations and policies related to the provision of medical and emergency services; learn principles and practices of supervision.
Candidates must receive a percentage score of at least 70 on the supplemental questionnaire ranking to be placed on an employment list. An adjustment may be made to raw scores based on factors listed in Civil Service Rule VI. Those candidates who are successful in the selection process will have their names placed on the employment list for a minimum of three months. At the time the employment list is established all candidates will receive written notice of their score on the exam(s) rank on the employment list and exact duration of the employment list.

The County of Santa Barbara Health Department (County Health) requires all employees working in direct contact with patients or clients in a highrisk environment to comply with the County Health Employee Immunizations policy. This can be accomplished by providing documentation of immunizations submitting laboratory immune titers demonstrating adequate immunity or obtaining required vaccinations. A list of requirements based on the specific program will be sent at the time an offer letter is presented to the selected candidate(s) and initial documentation will be required at this time.
Conditional Job Offer: Once a conditional offer of employment has been made candidate will be required to successfully complete a background check which includes a conviction history check and satisfactory reference checks. The appointee will be subject to a postoffer medical evaluation or examination. The appointee must satisfactorily complete a oneyear probationary period.
