Background Check Required: (Ala. Code 1622A5 Upon offer of employment employees will be required to submit legible fingerprints for a background review by the Alabama Bureau of Investigation and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Background checks must not be more than 10 years old.

- Physical dexterity mobility and strength to stoop climb lift heavy weights reachparts and supplies and perform the essential functions of this position.
- General knowledge of HVAC painting plumbing electrical small engine repairlocks and doors operating power tools and other required skills.
Essential Functions:
- Regulates heat ventilation and air conditioning systems to provide temperatureappropriate to the season and to insure economical usage of fuel water andelectricity.
- Checks daily to insure that all exit doors are working properly during the hours ofbuilding occupancy.
- Establishes priorities on repairs and general building maintenance both insideand outside the building.
- Examines the school building and grounds on a regular basis for safety repairsand general maintenance needs.
- Completes requests for general repairs or projects.
- Requests assistance for general repairs or projects beyond the capabilities of theschool.
- Replaces light bulbs and cleans light covers as needed with help from custodialpersonnel.
- Takes care of the schools security system during the day and after work hoursby responding to emergency calls from the service provider police departmentand fire department as directed by the principal.
- Orders materials and supplies as needed for repairs and general maintenance ofthe school.
- Moves furniture supplies and materials as needed.
- Assists with custodial duties as needed.
- Assists with the care of athletic facilities as needed.
- Assumes other reasonable and equitable duties as assigned by the immediatesupervisor(s).
- Subject to be on call seven days a week 24 hours a day in case of emergenciesthat may threaten the school systems property or equipment.
- Oversees heating and cooling systems.
- Maintains fire safety records as required.
- Performs other duties within the scope of his/her employment as may beassigned.
- This position will be subject to the Students First Act of 2011. Madison City Schools reserves the right to fill this position by transfer of a qualified applicant who is already employed by Madison City Schools.
- Under the Students First Act of 2011 no credit toward tenure or nonprobationary status is earned in the initial school year of employment if the date of hire occurs after September 30.
Expected Employment: 240 days/8 hrs. (full year)
Evaluation: According to established Board policies and administrative procedures and guidelines.
Salary: According to Madison City Schools Salary Schedule (Salary based on employment for complete year). Up to 10 years experience will be counted for new employees who provide documentation of fulltime experience in the area of concentration.
