Job Description

ROLE DESCRIPTION

The Assistant Manager Contract Manufacturing Operations serves as the technical liaison between Hach and their contract manufacturing organizations. The Engineer is responsible for aligning the cross functional groups within Hach delivering needs and specifications to the CMO planning and executing manufacturing set ups and changes and ongoing CMO performance by working on a crossfunctional project team to execute projects of all types.

What Youll Be Doing (Job Responsibilities)

Manufacturing Oversite

  • Be the primary point of contact for a contract manufacturing site and the manufacture of multiple products.
  • Coordinate cross functional Hach activities to support manufacturing set up and continued change projects.
  • Assemble and streamline internal technical information from multiple Hach global manufacturing and engineering sites to a meaningful plan the contract manufacturer can execute.
  • Ensure adequate manufacturing controls to achieve quality cost and on time delivery targets.
  • Understand Hach product design and application to provide technical expertise to the contract manufacture.
  • Manage multiple project work streams simultaneously to achieve project milestones on time.
  • Support Hach and the contract manufacturer in the selection assessment and qualification of subtier suppliers
  • Work closely with the contract manufacturer to identify and implement improvement opportunities for quality delivery cost and supply chain risk mitigation.

GENERAL SKILLS/COMPETENCIES/SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE

  • Manufacturing Methods
    • Advanced proficiency in assembly methods and controls as well as general understanding of component manufacturing methods (machining injection molding PCBA manufacture cables production)
    • Proficiency in mechanical design ability to interpret component and assembly drawings tolerance stacks. System electrical or fluidics experience is an advantage.
    • Proficiency in lean manufacturing concepts (value stream mapping root cause corrective analysis single minute exchange of dies heijunka visual management value analysis/value engineering etc.
    • Basic understanding of process and component qualification. Experience with PPAP IQ/OQ/PG statistical process control aerospace or medical device qualification is an advantage.
  • Project Management
    • Ability to lead complex projects with multiple team members/work streams in a highly organized fashion. Experience with common project management methods like visual project management or PMBOK and tools such as Gantt charts risk registers issue trackers etc.
    • Ability to lead and motivate others inside Hach and at suppliers through influence.
    • Proactive mindset to identify and mitigate risks before they cause issues.

  • Computer Skills
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; Excel Word PowerPoint Teams Sharepoint.
    • Experience using drawing vaults such as EPDM and Computer Aided Design (CAD) viewing software.
    • Proficiency in Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools (e.g. Solidworks) is an advantage.
  • Financial Acumen
    • Understanding of component and assembly costing methods
    • Basic understanding of accounting and profit and loss statements is an advantage.

OTHER NONESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Other duties as assigned.

Travel Requirements : Up to 25 domestic. 510 International travel may be required

What We Are Looking For (Skills & Qualifications)

  • Bachelors degree in engineering or science with minimum 7 10 years manufacturing engineering process or industrial engineering role
  • Advanced technical acumen in design for quality/manufacturability (component design GD&T materials selection system design)
  • Experience managing complex supplier change projects
  • Experience in electromechanical instrument assembly including process fixturing and automation
  • Experience in sourcing/supplier management process improvements
  • Background in both new product design and operations. Experience in all stages of design from concept to qualification to manufacturing transfer
  • Strong proven project management skills
  • Demonstrated change management skills
  • Strong data and factbased problemsolving/root cause analysis
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all stakeholders.
