Job Description
Purpose:
The ECSE Teacher is an instructor of young children with special needs. This position is designed to support and assist coordination of instructional programs relating to special education students with Developmental Delays Autism and/or low incidence disabilities. This position will work closely with parents general and special education staff community agencies and the special education administration.
Responsible to: Special Education Director Assistant Directors Coordinators and building Principals.
Salary: According to Negotiated Agreement
Education/Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree from an accredited college/university
- Current applicable Kansas state licensure forEarly Childhood Special Education (ECSE ECU)
- Early Childhood Licensure
- Health and Inoculation Certificate on file in the Central Office.
- Desire to continue career improvement
- Demonstrate proficiency in the sue of Interlocal prescribed computerbased reporting systems.
General Functions:
- Support an optimal learning environment in all educational settings.
- Ensure ECSE programs and activities conform to federal and state guidelines.
- Collaborate effectively with public and private agencies community organizations and primary education providers.
- Exhibit good time management and flexible scheduling.
- Support the mission and the goals of the special education interlocal.
- Complete all required reporting in a timely manner.
- Adhere to all local state and federal legal mandates related to the development and implementation of individual education plans.
- Assist in developmentally appropriate screenings and transdisciplinary evaluations of preschool children.
- Coordinate development of appropriate individual education plans to facilitate the personal social communication physical and cognitive development of young children.
- Ensure parents of children with special needs and general early childhood providers are active participants in the development of individual education plans.
- Develop goals and objective/benchmarks which clearly define student growth in relation to developmentally appropriate preschool activities.
- Promote the continued provision of educational services in the natural environment (home community preschool daycare etc.
- Assist with referral or students and their families to appropriate community agencies and services.
- Assist with assessment evaluation and reevaluation of young children for transition planning.
- Train supervise and evaluate paraeducators assigned to assist with student education plan implementation.
- Adhere to all interlocal safety policies including all precautions of Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan.
- Keep abreast of new information innovative ideas and techniques.
- Participate in third party reimbursement when applicable.
- Assist with inservice for community providers community agencies and parents.
- Respond positively to changes in assigned duties.
- Other duties as by the special education administration.
Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:
- Requires prolonged sitting and/or standing
- Frequent stooping bending reaching carrying.
- May require extensive travel and requires ability to drive.
- Must work in a variety of environments including crowded locations.
- Ability to tolerate emotional stress.
