Job Description

JOB GOAL:Plan organize and implement an appropriate instructional program in a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic QUALIFICATIONS:o Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or universityo Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsementso Meets one of the following additional qualifications outlined in Texas Education Code:o A Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or another early childhood education credential approved bythe Texas Education Agencyo A certification offered through a training center accredited by Association Montessori Internationale or throughthe Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Educationo At least eight years of experience teaching in a nationallyaccredited child care program or a Texas Rising Starprogramo An associate or baccalaureate degree in ECE Special EducationECE or a nonECE degree with 15 units ofECEspecific courseworko Documented completion of the Texas School Ready Training Program (TSR Comprehensive)o Be employed as a prekindergarten teacher in a school district that has ensured specific prekindergartenprofessional development has been met: Has completed 150 hours of professional development in ECEspecific topics over a consecutivefiveyear period; 75 of the 150 hours being in a mentoring/coaching relationship or; Completes 30 hours of ECEspecific professional development annually with 15 of the 30 hoursbeing in a mentoring/coaching relationship until 150 hours are documentedDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:o Understands and supports the mission vision and values of Harmony Public Schools.o Models and instills a love of learningo Designs and implements appropriate instruction of content area(s) assigned in with the school standards curriculum andstudent needso Plans prepares and delivers lesson plans and instructional materials that maximize student engagement and learning.o Utilizes a variety of teaching practices and methodologies that reflect diverse educational cultural and linguisticbackgrounds in order to meet the individual needs of students.o Instructs and monitors students in the use of learning materials and equipment.o Uses relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction.o Conducts tutoring sessions to meet all students needs.o Manages student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedureso Maintains discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the schoolo Implements a clear and consistent behavior management system while developing students character and sense ofcommunity in the classroom.o Encourages and monitors the progress of individual students and uses information to adjust teaching strategieso Attends department school district and parent meetings.o Participates in district and campus staff development and serves on staff committees.o Maintains a professional relationship with colleagues.o Maintains accurate complete and correct records as required by law district policy and administrative regulations.o Prepares required reports on students and activitieso Establishes and communicates clear objectives for all learning activitieso Assigns and grades classwork homework tests and assignments.o Takes daily attendanceo Communicates necessary information regularly to students colleagues and parents regarding student progress andstudent needso Establishes and maintains open lines of communication with students parents and community members.o Takes necessary and reasonable precautions to protect the students equipment materials and facilities.o Performs other duties as AND ABILITIES:o Ability to educate with ageappropriate language and teaching methodso Knowledge of curriculum and instructiono Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral forms with all levels of management both internal and externalto the district.o Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships both internal and external to the district.o Ability to use effective organizational interpersonal and communication skillso Ability to use computer including software database used by the district spreadsheet and word processing softwarecalculator copy machine and telephone.o Ability to analyze ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:o Light Work: may require the occasional light lifting.o Nights and weekend activities will be occasionally required.o Position is in classroom setting and intermittent speaking standing walking and writing.o Moderate travel is required.
