JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The Food Science Department within the College of Agricultural Sciences is looking to fill a research assistant position available in the laboratory of Dr. Edward Dudley. The candidate will work on independent and collaborative projects that use molecular biology and genomics methods to further understand foodborne pathogens. Responsibilities also include curating strains deposited within the E. coli Reference Center.
The optimal candidate will have a B.S. in the biological sciences with a strong background in microbiology and experience working with microbial infectious disease agents. Leadership skills and a ability to work alongside graduate and undergraduate students are expected.
The Dudley group is one of several labs in the Department of Food Science applying tools of molecular biology and genomics in food safety research. Penn State has excellent core facilities including genomics proteomics mass spectrometry and metabolomics and the Huck Institutes of the Life Sciences maintains a campuswide culture of excellence in microbiology genomics and microbiome research.

Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and the Pennsylvania Act of 1988 Penn State publishes a combined Annual Security and Annual Fire Safety Report (ASR).
