The Developer Platform team is at the ground floor of building the nextgen developer experience at BILL. You will be joining a team of developers who are passionate about APIs SDKS and tools that support BILLs developer community. Your role will entail developing enhancing and shaping the architecture of API connectivity solutions.
Our mission is to empower developers and our partners withfast flexible and performant APIs that enhance user engagement and functionality. Our platform will set the standard for scalability performance and ease of integration.

Wed love to chat if you have:
- A deep appreciation of others perspectives excellent communication abilities and a profound appreciation for the effectiveness of teamwork
- 8 years experience in designing developing and delivering customer centric enterprise level back end solutions
- Proven handson skills with programming experience in Java multithreading event driven architectures REST Data Caching Services DB schema design and data access technologies.
- Familiarity with modern web services APIs and SDKs
- Have understanding of Version control systems relational databases entity relationships Junits OpenAPI specification Git/Gitlab.
- A drive and a strong passion for continual learning in the field of engineering with a particular focus on enhancing developer support capabilities.
- Strong understanding of developer needs and usercentric design principles for APIs.
- Ability to effectively communicate with diverse audiences from large banking partners to smaller Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) and the broader developer community.
- Proficiency in developing tooling that enhances API usability and developer experience.
- Ability to work in an agile development environment.
- Strong problemsolving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Excellent troubleshooting abilities and energy to be on call for support.
- Experience working on large scale complex applications
- Ability to gain alignment across crossfunctional boundaries
- Product through all stages of development from concept to launch at scale
- Familiarity and expertise in writing unit and component tests
- Experience in complex problemsolving in largescale systems performance optimization and highavailability systems.
- Promoting a culture of quality
- Mentoring junior engineers
Good to Have
- Expertise with using AWS services to build microservices
- Experience with Kafka or Event Driven Systems
- Familiar with frontend development with React and Angular
- Experience with tools including Splunk Datadog Mixpanel LaunchDarkly etc.
- Experience in the payments/fintech industry or building payment applications is nice to have
The estimated salary range for this role is noted below for our San Jose based role. Our ranges for each role and job level are based on a variety of factors including candidate experience expertise and geographic location and may vary from the amounts listed above. The role is also eligible for a competitive benefits package that includes: medical dental vision life and disability insurance 401(k) retirement plan flexible spending & health savings account paid holidays paid time off and other company benefits.
The estimated base salary range for this role is noted below for our office location in Draper UT. Additionally this role is eligible to participate in BILLs bonus and equity plan. Our ranges for each role and job level are based on a variety of factors including candidate experience expertise and geographic location and may vary from the amounts listed above.
