Our American Sign Language Interpreters serve a critical role in ensuring full communication access within the educational environment between Deaf and Hard of Hearing students who use sign language and their teacher the students peers and other school personnel. This position serves as an integral member of the students schoolbased team.

Position Details:
- Local 2209 Salary Schedule C$27.33 $32.69 per hour (depending on experience and education)
- This is a temporary position for Summer ESY only
- Hours will follow a flexible calendar based on individual student and district needs
Requirements:
- Must have completed a training program affiliated with a state accredited educational institution.
- Experience as an interpreter in a variety of situations involving the deaf/hard of hearing.
Licensure Requirements
- To qualify as a sign language interpreter/transliterator a person must hold:
- An interpreter and/or transliterator certificate awarded by the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID); or
- A general level of proficiency certificate at a level 3 awarded by the National Association of the Deaf (NAD); or
- Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) at the 4.0 level.
- To qualify as a cued speech transliterator a person shall hold a current applicable transliterator certificate awarded by Testing Evaluation and Certification Unit Inc. (TECUnit).
