Job Description

Pilgrim Area Collaborative is a public educational collaborative that serves students with a wide range of disabilities from primary through postsecondary levels from all over the South Shore.

This isan administrative position that is fulltime yearround and anticipated to start July 1 2025.

Qualifications:

1. Five years experience in special education administration and supervision.

2. Excellent academic credentials; Earned Masters Degree in Education Administration or an allied field. Earned Doctorate preferred.

3. Eligible for or have Massachusetts certification as an Administrator of Special Education or Superintendent of Schools.

Purpose:Serve as the assistant chief administrative officer of the Pilgrim Area Collaborative and through strong skillful and pivotal leadership assume responsibility for the overall planning development operation and performance of the organization.


Job Goals:

1. Inspire lead guide and direct every member of the administrative supervisory instructional and support staff in establishing and achieving the highest standards of excellence so that each individual student enrolled in the Pilgrim Area Collaborative may be provided with an academically complete socially meaningful and personally rewarding education commensurate with his/her special needs.

2. Oversee and administer the use of school facilities properties and funds with a maximum of efficiency and a minimum of waste and with an everpresent awareness of and concern for the impact upon each individual students education and the cost to the towns serviced by the Collaborative.

3. Support implement interpret and communicate the policies and procedures established by the Board of Directors to the staff parents and the community at large.

Performance Responsibilities:

Leadership

1. Develop coordinate and administer all programs and services offered by the Collaborative.

2. Conduct needs assessments and analysis of such assessments when indicated by the Board of Directors.

3. Select and recommend all personnel to be employed by the Collaborative.

4. Supervise all personnel employed by the Collaborative in conjunction with program administration.

5. Ensure that staff members employed by the Collaborative are evaluated on a regular basis.

6. Possess a combination of personal power insight and skill as a group process manager and demonstrate the ability to inspire organize and lead others.

7. Represent the Collaborative on various local and state task forces committees and advisory boards.

8. Secure legal advice pertaining to Collaborative management procedures whenever appropriate.

9. Demonstrate knowledge of current education research and theory with respect to best practice.

10. Recommend implement and maintain policies approved by the Board of Directors.

11. Accept any other responsibilities assigned by the Executive Director.

Fiscal

1. Demonstrate successful experience in educational financial management grant writing grant administration and program evaluation.

2. Demonstrate effective use of skills and knowledge in budget preparation allocation of resources cost effectiveness and financial reporting.

3. Develop and present an annual budget to the Collaborative Board of Directors.

4. Prepare and present an annual report to the Board of Directors concerning the effectiveness of all Collaborative programs and services and financial expenditures.

5. Negotiate facility purchases and leases.

Communication

1. Disseminate information concerning the Collaborative to the public media and community groups.

2. Demonstrate the ability to work cooperatively and positively with diverse groups including staff administrators Board members and school committees.

3. Demonstrate the ability to be an active listener and a fair and effective negotiator.

4. Effectively implement Board actions and recommendations and develop and maintain regular communication systems with the Board.

5. Communicate and operate from strong ideals and beliefs about education and engender trust in the organization among staff districts state agencies and legislators.

6. Support interpret and communicate the policies of the Board of Directors to the staff parents and the community at large.

7. Demonstrate wisdom and good judgment as well as skill in oral and written communication.
