Cottage Grove High School is seeking ahigh school guidance counselor starting the 202526 school year who is skilled at creating both meaningful relationships and help students as they navigate high school and prepare their posthigh school plans. This permanent position would be an important part of an experienced and energetic counseling/office staff (including out careercollege counselor and specialist) as well as a school staff with the mission to partner with parents and the community to help students find their direction for their future.

Cottage Grove High School has 600 students in grades 912 and promotes a welcoming and positive experience for all students. CGHS prides itself in offering students a wide variety of courses opportunities and experiences to challenge and prepare them for tomorrow. CGHS strives to be a local leader in CTE technology and instruction.

Duties

• Maintain appropriate written documentation record keeping and data collection.
• Maintains communication with school staff regarding individual students needs.
• Provides consultant services for teachers parents and students.
• Provides counseling and guidance services including career and developmental counseling.
• Create student schedules and assist with the master schedule.
• Monitors/tracks academic achievement of students toward graduation and provides interventions when necessary.
• Initiates parent teacher and student conferences
• Assist in solving student behavior problems.
• Maintains communication with students patrons and colleagues.
• Provide crisis intervention and referral series as needed.
• Assist with student supervision.

Qualifications

• Valid Oregon cousenling certificate (or the ability to obtain)
• Experience guidance counseling at the secondary level
• Demonstrated abilities to plan and implement instruction a around district curriculum guides
• Ability to work and communicate with students teachers parents and administrators
• Ability to contribute in a meaningful way with an experienced team of instructors as part of professional learning communities

Preferred Qualities

• Evidence of multicultural experience and cultural competency
• Bilingual proficiency and/or multicultural experience strongly preferred
• Willingness to coach and/or advise sports clubs or activities

Salary

Salary will be determined by the experience and degree level in accordance with the licensed

salary schedule.
