Job Description
Duties will vary depending on the position.
Responsibilities
- Provide instruction to students in the absence of the regular teacher following the lesson plans and curriculum set by the regular teacher.
- Implement classroom routines procedures and expectations to maintain a consistent learning environment.
- Establish and maintain a safe orderly and supportive classroom environment for students.
- Supervise students during instructional time and in noninstructional settings (e.g. recess lunch hallways).
- Manage classroom behavior effectively addressing any student issues or disruptions according to the schools policies.
- Report any student injuries illnesses or serious disciplinary issues to school administration promptly.
- Communicate effectively with students school staff and parents if necessary.
- Assist with grading assignments and other tasks as directed by the school administration.
- Perform any additional duties as required by the school or district.
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Tools/Equipment Used:Computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment; P.E. teachers: automated external defibrillator (AED)
Posture: Prolonged standing; frequent kneeling/squatting bending/stooping pushing/pulling and twisting
Motion: Frequent walking
Lifting: Regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); may lift and move text books and classroom equipment
Environment: Work inside may work outside; regular exposure to noise
Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress; work prolonged or irregular hours
