JOB SUMMARY:
New Covenant Academy is seeking several qualified candidates for the role of Extended Child Care Services Staff for the before & after school program offered to students in grades Jr.K8. Duties include the following: Provide a safe atmosphere for all children; Provide activities during the extended hours as scheduled; Maintain controls on the arrival and departure of children attending Extended Care according to school policy; Report time charges for Extended Care as requested by the Business Office. This is an excellent role for education childcare or childrens ministry majors.
Working hours will vary slightly based on the campus location but generally run between the hours of 6:30 a.m. to the start of school 8:15 a.m. and 3:15 p.m. (school dismissal time) to 6:00 p.m. in the evening. The schedule is slightly different than the rest with a later start and end time. We are hiring for the fall semester.
Note: Extended Care Child Services are not offered on days when the school is closed or operates on a halfday for professional development therefore workers are not scheduled on those days). The schedule can be somewhat flexible and the individual can choose to work mornings only afternoons only or a split shift (both morning and afternoon) if he/she wishes to work as many hours as possible.
TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS:
The Extended Care Worker is an entrylevel position and may be a student(high school or college)or adult who has a desire and calling to work with young people. The Extended Care Worker must have a Christian testimony reflected in a daily walk that exemplifies the Christian faith must demonstrate evidence of regeneration and dedication to the cause of Christ and have experience in counseling methods and/or education.
The Extended Care Worker must:
1. Fulfill the general qualifications for employment at NCA.
2. Have previous experience in a childcare setting is preferred.
3. A demonstrated love for children and a vibrant Christian testimony.
4. The ability to lead a variety of activities.
5. Greet parents in a friendly manner and communicate effectively.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision ability to adjust focus and peripheral vision. The employee is frequently required to walk stand; sit; possibly run stretch; use hands for fine manipulation handle or feel and reach with hands and arms using a keyboard and video display terminal. The employee is occasionally required to stoop kneel or crouch. Other physical activities may be required related to the physical ability to perform emergency procedures evacuating students out of the classroom (possibly through a window) or following other emergency protocols.
WORK ENVIRONMENT/SCHOOL SETTING
Fluorescent lit classrooms gymnasium outdoor areas cafeteria and other areas where students may be.
BENEFITS AND COMPENSATION
This position is paid at an hourly rate. There are no medical or tuition benefits associated with this position.
