Overall Responsibility:
A Roadway Designer 3 supports the projects PM and team through efficient plan production. Must be selfmotivated individual that works well independently in a teamoriented environment. Must be able to make independent design suggestions to engineer of record. |
Key Areas of Responsibility:
- Proficiency in developing roadway & intersection alignments/layouts rightofwayplans and drainage plans.
- General understanding of hydrology and drainage design.
- Knowledgeable of phased E&SC plans & BMP design.
- A firm understanding of GDOT MicroStation and InRoads/ Open Roads standards.
- Ability to quickly grasp and apply new design procedures/ordinances.
- Ability to coordinate with utility providers for utility relocations.
- Efficiently generate cross sections & profiles in MicroStation & InRoads.
- Preparation of Signing and Marking Plans.
- Preparation of Construction Phasing Plans.
- GDOT PDP experience and knowledge of GDOTs PPG and EDG.
- Basic surveying knowledge.
- Ability to prepare quantities for cost estimates.
- Excellent communications and relationship building skills.
- Additional duties as assigned.

Experience Proficiencies Skills and Certifications:
- Ten 10 years of related design experience or a Bachelors degree (BS from a fouryear college or university and minimum of six 6 years of related design experience.
- Software proficiency: InRoads MicroStation OpenRoads Microsoft Word Microsoft Schedule and Excel
