Job Description
Overview
The Database Architect plays a crucial role in the design implementation and maintenance of an organization s database systems. This position is essential for ensuring the reliability performance and security of our database structures which ultimately supports the data needs of the entire organization. A Database Architect will be tasked with creating scalable architectures that can handle large volumes of data while optimizing data operations for efficiency. With an increasing dependency on datadriven decisionmaking this role becomes ever more significant in transforming data into actionable insights. The Architect is expected to stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry best practices to position the organization at the forefront of data management. Additionally collaboration with crossfunctional teams will be essential to align database capabilities with business objectives ensuring that appropriate strategies are implemented to meet evolving data demands.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop database architecture tailored to business requirements.
- Oversee database deployment and migration processes.
- Optimize database performance through effective tuning and indexing strategies.
- Develop and enforce database security measures and protocols.
- Implement backup and recovery solutions to safeguard critical data.
- Monitor database health and performance metrics regularly.
- Collaborate with developers to design and implement effective data models.
- Evaluate and recommend new database technologies and tools.
- Conduct capacity planning and forecasting for future database needs.
- Document database designs processes and changes for reference.
- Assist in the troubleshooting and resolution of databaserelated issues.
- Provide training and support to team members on database usage.
- Manage data integration between different systems using ETL processes.
- Ensure compliance with data governance and legal requirements.
- Work closely with IT teams to align database architecture with infrastructure.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor s degree in Computer Science Information Technology or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Database Architect or similar role.
- Strong proficiency in SQL and database programming languages.
- Handson experience with relational databases (e.g. MySQL PostgreSQL).
- Familiarity with NoSQL databases (e.g. MongoDB Cassandra).
- Experience with cloudbased database solutions (e.g. AWS Azure).
- Solid understanding of database security protocols and best practices.
- Knowledge of data modeling tools and techniques.
- Excellent problemsolving skills and analytical thinking.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a teamoriented environment.
- Familiarity with Agile project management methodologies.
- Experience with database performance tuning and optimization tools.
- Understanding of data warehousing and business intelligence concepts.
- Certifications in database technologies (e.g. Oracle Microsoft) are a plus.
- Experience with ETL tools and data integration techniques.
