Job Description
Position Overview:
We re seeking a strategic and resultsdriven buyer to join our custom mechanic shop team. This role is ideal for a highly organized professional with a sharp eye for quality a passion for the automotive world and a proven track record in negotiating pricing and managing vendor relationships. You ll play a key role in sourcing highperformance parts ensuring timely delivery and maintaining the quality standards our builds are known for.
Key Responsibilities:
Vendor Negotiation & Management
Develop maintain and strengthen relationships with parts suppliers and distributors.
Negotiate pricing terms and delivery schedules to optimize cost and performance.
Evaluate vendor performance regularly and recommend changes when necessary.
Procurement & Inventory Oversight
Purchase parts tools and materials based on job specifications and shop demand.
Track incoming orders ensure timely deliveries and resolve delays or shortages.
Collaborate with mechanics and project managers to forecast part requirements.
Cost Control & Budgeting
Monitor and maintain costefficient buying practices.
Support budget adherence by identifying savings opportunities without compromising quality.
Quality Assurance
Ensure that all parts meet the shop s performance and customization standards.
Proactively handle any quality or compatibility issues with suppliers.
Market Intelligence
Stay current on new product lines automotive trends and emerging suppliers.
Attend trade shows and supplier meetings to identify new opportunities and technologies.
Requirements
3 years of experience in purchasing procurement or vendor management.
Strong negotiation skills with a demonstrated ability to secure favorable pricing and terms.
Knowledge of automotive parts and components especially for performance or custom builds.
Excellent communication and relationshipbuilding abilities.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Proficient in inventory software spreadsheets and basic data reporting.
Preferred:
Previous experience in a custom mechanic or performance diesel environment.
Familiarity with ERP or inventory management platforms.
