Job Description
We have openings for a new Bridge to College Student Internship program taking place in Summer 2025 with approximate dates of June 16August 8 2025. Our openings are for students who have just graduated high school and will be entering a twoyear community college or 4year undergraduate program as fulltime students in Fall 2025. Students will be given the opportunity to engage in practical research to further their educational goals. The selected interns will provide technical and/or research support to projects in the areas of engineering polymer chemistry 3D printing or other related fields.
In this position you will
- Provide technical and/or research support to projects in the areas of engineering polymer chemistry 3D printing or other related fields working with scientists engineers and technical staff members.
- Participate in research in assigned area under close supervision.
- Gather and analyze data and information in support of scientific research.
- Participate in research planning and evaluation discussion.
- Attend relevant onsite seminars.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications :
- Must be eligible to access the Laboratory in compliance with Section 3112 of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). See Additional Information section below for details.
- Must be a new community college or university student in Fall 2025 at an accredited institution pursuing a degree in engineering chemistry or other related science fields.
- Demonstrated effective communication skills.
- Ability to present and communicate concepts and ideas.
- Experience working with personal computers and familiarity with Word Excel and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Must be at least 18 years of age at the start of the internship.
- Must have GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Desired Qualifications
- Prior experience with a national laboratory high school workshop or program.

Site 300 is an experimental test site operated by LLNL. Situated on 7000 acres in rural foothills approximately six miles southwest of downtown Tracy and 15 miles southeast of Livermore Site 300 hosts approximately 200 employees with expertise in such fields as engineering chemistry biology and environmental restoration. Employees assigned to work at Site 300 may be exposed to the organism that causes San Joaquin Valley Fever (coccidioidomycosis.
Security Clearance
None required. However this position involves U.S. Export Control; this work must be performed by a U.S. person (U.S. citizen U.S. lawful permanent resident U.S. national or U.S. protected individual (e.g. refugee asylee).
If your assignment is longer than 179 days cumulatively within a calendar year you must go through the Personal Identity Verification process. PreEmployment Drug Test

Per the Department of Energy (DOE) Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory must meet certain restrictions with the use and/or possession of mobile devices in Limited Areas. Depending on your job duties you may be required to work in a Limited Area where you are not permitted to have a personal and/or laboratory mobile device in your possession. This includes but not limited to cell phones tablets fitness devices wireless headphones and other Bluetooth/wireless enabled devices.
If you use a medical device which pairs with a mobile device you must still follow the rules concerning the mobile device in individual sections within Limited Areas. Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities require separate approval. Hearing aids without wireless capabilities or wireless that has been disabled are allowed in Limited Areas Secure Space and Transit/Buffer Space within buildings.
