Job Description:
As a member of the Mechanical Engineering team the candidate for the Designer role will collaborate with engineers to design complex and robust military communication equipment as well as support existing products and cost reduction initiatives. Design skills will be applied to develop robust electronic packaging solutions for use in harsh environments. In this dynamic and fastpaced environment the candidate will be exposed to all aspects of the product development cycle which include but are not limited to; concept design prototype/discovery testing supply chain and manufacturing activities. Products are typically designed and tested to MILSTD810 environmental standards therefore experience and/or exposure in designing products for military applications is preferred but not required. Candidate shall have strong communication and interpersonal skills coupled with a passion for solving complex problems through innovation. Working with peers and crossfunctional team members the candidate will help provide worldclass products to our customers through quality performance in the essential functions that follow.
Essential Functions:
- Provide mechanical design support for both new product development activities as well as factory support of existing products
- Apply GD&T to part drawings
- Perform stackup analysis
- Generate and/or process engineering change orders (ECOs) as required
- Work directly with mechanical engineers on CAD models and part documentation
- Apply creative thinking to resolve design challenges
- Eligible to obtain a US Government Secret Security Clearance if required
Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree and minimum 4years of prior relevant mehanical design experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related mechanical design experience. In lieu of a degree minimum of 8years of prior related mechanical design experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Associate degreee with 4 years of experience
- PTC Creo 3D CAD
- Experience with AutoCAD
- Defense/Military electronics packaging experience
- Familiarity with MILSTD810 environmental standards
- Experience in performing tolerance stackup analysis
- Experience in the use of 3D CAD (preferably PTC Creo).
- Preferred experience in design of electronic equipment. Secondary experience in design of industrial equipment or automotive components
- Strong communication skills and enjoys working with other people developing relationships and sharing knowledge
In compliance with pay transparency requirements the salary range for this role in New York State is $68000 $126000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
