Position Number:
Public Defender III:This is a Managing Attorney position. The successful candidate will have felony jury trial experience and extensive knowledge in the area of criminal law. The successful candidate will be responsible for handling complicated and violent felony proceedings throughout the 14th Judicial District as well as assigning cases and supervising other attorneys. This is a fulltime state position which will not allow for the private practice of law so only those willing to accept fulltime employment need to apply. Starting date June 1 2025 or after.

Minimum Qualifications
The formal education equivalent of a Juris Doctor degree and at least seven years practicing law in the defense of criminal cases and trial work; plus two years of experience in a leadership or supervisory position. Licensed to practice law by the State of Arkansas. Be Y certified or attain Y qualifications within one year of employment. OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.
