Cornerstone Family Healthcare is actively recruiting for a Medical Assistant to join our growing Urgent Care team in Newburgh.

RATE OF PAY/SALARY: $19.00 $23.00 per hour (plus 10 shift differential)

WORK LOCATION(S): Newburgh NY.

General Purpose:

The MA will provide quality patient care in the department within their scope of practice as directed by the supervising Registered/Practical Nurse.


Description of Duties:

Under the supervision of a Registered/Practical Nurse:

  • Perform screening procedures and documentation in accordance with Cornerstone policies and procedures.
  • Identify potential patientproblems alert the RN or Provider.
  • Participate in Cornerstones Care Team Model including but not limited to:
    • Participate in PreVisit Planning (see PreVisit Planning Policy).
    • Participate in care teamhuddles/communication.
    • Assist with population management activities for assigned patient panel.
    • Direct and participate inquality improvement activities within the care team and department.
  • Referphone and walkin triage to Registered Nurse or Physician.
  • Strictlyadhere to safe nursing practices including but not limited to InfectionControl National Patient Safety Goals and Waived Testing set forth by CORNERSTONEpolicy and in compliance with Joint Commission and OSHA.
  • Assist providers with inoffice procedures and exams as needed.
  • Perform hearing and vision screenings on children and adults.
  • Responsible for performingthe following actions: EKGs all POCT included but not limited to: RapidHIV Rapid HEP C Rapid Influenza Urine Dip (UA HCG) Fingerstick(Hemoglobin Lead Glucose HbA1c PT/INR).
  • Strictly adhere to safe practice guidelines including but not limited to Infection ControlNational Patient Safety Goals and Waived Testing set forth by CORNERSTONE policy and in compliance with Joint Commission and OSHA.
  • Float to other departmentsas needed.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment for the patient.
  • Make recommendations to supervisors for the improvement of health care for all patients.
  • Be familiar with and adhere to all clinical administrative and general policies and procedures as outlined in the CORNERSTONE Policy and Procedure Manual and EmployeeHandbook.
  • Attend and participate in monthly department All Staff and other required meetings.
  • Maintainconfidentiality of all aspects of CORNERSTONE including but not limited to patient confidentiality financials and employee relations.
  • Perform other duties asassigned.


Requirements
  • Registered Medical Assistant OR Certified Medical Assistant OR Medical Assistant with school diploma (i.e. Associates Degree) OR Medical Assistant without certifications/diploma but with at least one year of on the job experience OR Willing to train current Cornerstone FHC employee who is in good standing
  • Current BLS Certificate
  • Willing and able to travel


SCHEDULE:

Week 1: Monday and Tuesday 7:45 AM 8:00 PM; Saturday and Sunday 8:45 AM 5:00 PM

Week 2: Wednesday Thursday Friday 7:45 AM 8:00 PM
