MACMILLAN and MINDWISE: FAMILY SUPPORT WORKER

Location Base: Blended home and officebased working; based at MindWises Head Office with travel throughout NI.

2 Positions Available

Hours: 30 Hours per week.

Salary Range:(prorata) (MindWise Band 2

Starting Salary: 20601.20

Duration: Fixed Term Contract until 31st August 2027

Closing date: 12noon. Tuesday 6th May 2025

As a Macmillan funded Professional employed by MindWise The Family Support Worker will assist and support the Psychosocial Service (NI) and work closely with the team members in the development of the service. They will embed family focused practice and develop skills in the use of The Family Model (Falkov 2012. They will provide support and address the impact of mental health issues upon children family members and carers living in a family where there is a cancer diagnosis. The post holder will have opportunities to assist in the development of highlighting the experiences of people living with cancer and mental health issues their families and carers to ensure they are at the centre of all that we do.

What we ask for from you:

  • Level 3 in Social Care (or equivalent) and two years experience working in a caring role in a social care setting either in mental health or childrens services

OR

years experience working in a caring role in a social care setting either in mental health or childrens services

Be fully registered with or eligible to register with NISCC as a Social Worker.

  • Has a minimum of 1 years experience of working with children young people and or families.
  • Knowledge and awareness of the issues affecting those with cancer and mental health issues.
  • Demonstrate ability to prioritise own workload problem solve and use initiative.
  • Demonstrate ability to work as part of a multi disciplinary team.
  • Demonstrate experience of identifying needs and risks and planning care to address these needs.
  • Ability to demonstrate alignment with the core values of Macmillan and MindWise: With Heart With Strength With Ambition Passion Respect Empathy Togetherness Openness and transparency.
  • Hold a current full driving licence which is valid for use in the UK and have access to a car on appointment. This criterion will be waived in the case of applicants whose disability prohibits driving but who have access to a form of transport approved by the Organisation which will permit them to carry out the duties of the post.

Supplementary information

The successful candidate will be required to undergo an Enhanced check via the Access (NI) Service.

The post holder may be required to travel throughout Northern Ireland and on occasions within the United Kingdom the Republic of Ireland and elsewhere.
