ATTENTION ALL ALASKA RESIDENTS!


The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) Northern Region Highways and Aviation Valdez District is looking for an Equipment Operator Journey 2 to help us

Keep Alaska Moving!



What you will be doing:
Equipment Operator Journey 2:

  • Operate heavy equipment including dump trucks graders dozers loaders and snow blowers for road and airport maintenance.
  • Perform traffic control duties such as flagging and ensuring safe work zones.
  • Maintain state highways and airports by servicing vegetation signs barricades fences culverts drainage structures bike paths and road surfaces.
  • Snow plowing and winter operations using equipment like plows sanders and snow blowers.
  • Gravel and asphalt repair including ditching blading and surface maintenance.
  • Haul aggregate materials using dump trucks and operate semitractor trailers with belly dumps.
  • Perform manual labor and general vehicle maintenance including shop cleanup.
  • Operate steam boilers for thawing drainage structures in winter.
  • Weld and cut materials for equipment repairs and maintenance.
  • Make daily MMS entries (if designated as a lead position).

This position is position is located in Thompson Pass Alaska within the Valdez District.Expect a dynamic fastpaced environment with varied responsibilities and conditions. COMMERCIAL DRIVERS LICENSE REQUIRED
This position requires the incumbent to possess a Commercial Drivers License (CDL) per federal regulations 49 CFR 383 to register with the federal CDL Drug & Alcohol Testing Clearinghouse prior to performing safetysensitive duties and to provide consent to the Employer to review driver information in accordance with 49 CFR 382.


Equipment Operator Journey 2

AClass AAlaska Commercial Drivers License (CDL)with NTanker endorsement is required at time of hire. A conditional hire approval can only be given for endorsements. This means that the proposed appointee must successfully obtain NTanker and Hazmat endorsements within 90 days of hire and sign an agreement to this effect as a condition of employment.


DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION & PUBLIC FACILITIES DRUG AND ALCOHOL POLICY

Selected candidates must comply with the DOT&PF Drug and Alcohol Policy and procedures and CANNOT start work in a Commercial Drivers License (CDL) position until Management Services or designee has received confirmation of the proposed appointee passing the required PreEmployment drug test. According to federal regulations all violations and refusals will be maintained with the Federal CDL Drug & Alcohol Testing

Clearinghouse database.
