Job Description:
As the Scientist Systems Engineer you will be responsible for leading multiple product development efforts which include: hardware and software requirements definition decomposition allocation management verification and validation of technical products and systems. You will also be responsible for leading component trade studies system architecture system modeling system integration flight test planning and characterization of system performance.
The Agile Development Group (ADG) specializes in developing disruptive nextgeneration technologies for advanced Unmanned Air Systems (UAS / UAV) advanced radar systems nextgeneration weapon systems and other RF sensor technologies.
Essential Functions:
- Leads requirements definition flowdown and traceability for complex electronic systems embracing agile product systems and software development and modelbased systems engineering (MBSE) processes to enhance development speed and quality; leads the of rapid learning cycles in requirements development design build integration & test and verification & validation in a designtocost and designformanufacturability environment
- Develops tracks and presents technical performance metrics
- Works with the program managers to perform risk assessment and develop mitigation strategies for complex projects
- Leads system integration and engineering test efforts
- Develops or champions new systems concepts or technologies.
- Improves upon existing Systems Engineering processes
- Leads system design synthesis of complex electronic systems to include processes and interfaces in testing
- Leads development of software and hardware architecture alignment across multiple business area programs technology roadmaps and product marketplace research briefs
- Provides multidisciplinary radar subject matter expertise to highly complex next generation sensor systems for whole system functional integration and operation
- Perform trade studies on a variety of systems and components
- Leads design verification testing efforts including lab chamber ground and flight test
- Leads data analysis from design verification test efforts ensuring requirements are met
- Develops and runs simulations and other analysis tools to predict system performance in various environments
- Formulates and presents results during internal and external program meetings
- Participates in proposal activities both cost and technical
- Viewed as an expert and/or resource within the field by peers in and outside the organization.
- Ability to obtain and maintain any additional clearances as required
- Ability to lift up to 20 lbs
- Up to 10 travel may be required
Qualifications:
- Active DoD clearance with current 5 year update
- Bachelors Degree and a minimum of 12 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree minimum of 16 years of prior related experience.
- Experience with radar systems.
- System level design experience in which the applicant has been involved in the design and integration of complex hardware/software systems the definition of multiple interfaces and been involved in the trades of multiple solution options
- Hands on experience being involved in system integration engineering testing and system performance characterization
- Experience using Microsoft Office products
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Experience with and an understanding of aerospace systems especially in the development of integrated hardware/software products
- Experience integrating typical payloads like sensors into air vehicles
- Experience leading a team to complete assigned program tasking
- Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering
- Experience with Matlab or Python
- Experience in Control Account Management as part of an Earned Value Management System
- Experience in advanced radar sensor system development
- Experience with proposal development including generating basis of estimates
- Experience in development of use cases developed from customer objectives and concepts of operations
- Excellent people skills with experience leading and collaborating in a multidisciplinary diverse and dynamic team environment.
