JOB TITLE: TOOLCRIB ATTENDANT

REPORTS TO: OPERATIONS MANAGER MACHINING

Job Classification: NONEXEMPT

Job Status: FULLTIME

JOB Purpose:

The Tool Crib Attendant manages all tools and equipment in the tooling area to support the Machining Department. The Tool Crib Attendant is responsible for maintaining records of tools issued to employees; maintains inventory and reordering as needed; reports damaged worn out or missing equipment to department lead and Operations Manager.

The Tool Crib Attendant must have organizational and inventory management skills to keep accurate records of tools and tool locations. Basic computer skills (ERP Email Word and some Excel) are necessary in the position to manage tools and materials in the system and maintain inventory records.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Ensures that job is done in an efficient manner to make sure production is continuously supplied with tooling and down time is minimized.
  • Oversees the checkin and checkout procedures for all tools and equipment in the tool area for the Machining Department.
  • Inspect all tools and equipment for wear and/or defects clean and perform basic maintenance to ensure they are ready for use.
  • Create and maintain a recordkeeping system for all tools and equipment in use as well as other records such as supply inventory.
  • Keep the tool area clean safe and orderly always.
  • Coordinate with Machinists and Programmers to set up tool carts per Job Orders with required cutting tools fixtures vises etc. Collect tool carts and reinventory tools once jobs are completed.
    • Inspect materials equipment tools etc. prior to beginning work; if nonconformance present work with Shop Lead to resolve in a timely manner.
    • Advise Shop Lead when inventory is impacted.
  • Manage replacement of tools and equipment. Research pricing and availability of requested material from several sources and work with the Supply Chain Management team to order.
  • Return all required tools and equipment from the machine workstations back to the tooling area to maintain accurate inventory; ensures all tooling and equipment is accounted for.
  • Conduct inventory cycle counts of Tool area as scheduled.
  • Research and correct any inventory deficiencies or discrepancies.
  • Manages shop consumable of various items.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Requires 13 years of related experience
  • Previous tool crib experience in a machine shop preferred
  • Understanding of machine tooling drills mills end mills boring heads taps etc.
  • Mechanical experience preferred.
  • Basic Mathematics (addition subtraction multiplication division)
  • Inventory Management FOD Awareness and 5S skills preferred.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
