McCain Foods is accepting applications for a Health and Safety Coordinator position at the Burley Idaho plant. The Health and Safety Coordinator is required to assist and support in the development and of the health& safety and security agenda for the plant focusing on continuous improvement of health & safety policies and procedures injury prevention safety management plant security crisis management and compliance with all applicable Federal and local health & safety compliance obligations.

Duties include managing health & safety programs conducting complex health & safety inspections developing health & safety policies and training employees on health & safety procedures. The primary responsibilities of this role include those mentioned above. However additional duties may be assigned to assist the Health & Safety Manager in ensuring compliance with the state provincial and federal occupational health & safety regulatory requirements. Assist the Health & Safety Manager in evaluating the site environment to meet employees ergonomic needs and noise level compliance and ensure procedures are implemented to meet the Companys health & safety requirements and regulatory standards. Conducts health & safety audits and ensures proper corrective action is taken.

Accountabilities:

  • Ensures adherence to all relevant federal state provincial municipal and company safety rules and regulations by conducting of daytoday compliance activities.
  • Conducts regular Key Elements of Safety (KES) inspections of equipment and facilities and serves as a resource for employee safety committees in collaboration with the Health & Safety Manager and/or Regional Health & Safety Leaders.
  • Conducts health & safety audits and supports the site leadership team in closing audit findings root cause corrective actions and other assessment findings within the required timeframe(s).
  • Analyze safety interaction data incidents and injury trends to identify areas for training improvements behavioral changes and/or other operational and workflow enhancement opportunities.
  • Assists supervisors in investigating workplace incidents and devising action plans to prevent
  • recurrences.
  • Audits the contractor management program to ensure contractors safety training safe work plans and insurance requirements are met and permits are completed effectively.
  • Maintain the McCain OSHA/OH&S programs to ensure adherence to company regulatory and any other health & safety requirements including compliance with established procedures documentation completion and annual reviews.
  • Prepares daily weekly and monthly reports to track health & safety and operational performance.
  • Conducts training on health & safety topics for management and staff.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with minimal supervision on projects within teams.

Qualifications:

  • Associates degree Bachelors Degree or equivalent combination of qualifications and Health & Safety experience
  • Professional certifications such as CSP ASP or accredited Health & Safety Certification is desired.
  • At least 3 years of Health & Safety experience
  • ISO Management Systems experience is preferred
